The Questions From Readers Feb 15th 2011 raises the (no doubt burning in many JWs minds) question about why Moses became angry with Aarons 2 sons after the death of their brothers.

The WTBTS undertakes to answer this question but really doesn't seem unsure of themselves (perhaps the channel of communication was suffering some interference that day.) Notice the numerous ways that the WTBTS in a short (half page) article hedges its bets. It reminded me of a schoolboy cooking up a story when he was caught with his hands in the cookie jar , vacillating & hedging as he tries to think up an acceptable answer.

It appears that , the surviving priests had evidently acted , Aaron may have w ondered , Perhaps he felt , Aaron mayespecially have reasoned , Aaron may have thought , Moses seems to have accepted , Evidently, Jehovah too was satisfied.

It makes one wonder whether the writers really had any clue and why they even bothered trying to answer the point. And it does raise the question of if they are so uncertain and have to make so many assumptions about explaining this bible account . how sure are they about their convictions on the really big JW issues. "Evidently" , they don't seem too sure about things.

It's like telling a lie to cover a lie. They have insisted they alone have the truth, so therefore they MUST know the answer to every question. That always stuck in my craw that they would attempt to make dogmatic statements about things they clearly would have new more knowledge than anyone else:

    Will resurrected people marry?

How long was it after God created Adam did he create Eve?

What will lions eat in the new system if they don't hunt zebras?

How will Armageddon survivors get over the trauma of seeing mass annihilation of billions of people before their eyes?

What happens if someone suffers a serious accident in the new system that you'd expect would be fatal?

who the hell would EVER ask that question? what it should say:

q: why did moses become angry with aaron's 2 sons after the death of their brothers?

a: who the #@$# (read: fig) cares?

I had a friend from bethel who told me that the Questions from Readers part, doesn't answer questions posed by random ppl or JW for that matter. The GB or someone from Writing thinks of questions "people would ask" and then they provide an answer according to their judgment.

Exactly. Just like the "experiences" at assemblies are 90% fabricated, the "questions from readers" are really only "asked" by readers who are also writers of the magazine.

See, it isn't really lying because the ones who write the article technically read it also, making them "readers".

    Mad Sweeney,

What you're saying is that it's a lot like their F&DS doctrine how they say Peter was part of the F&DS when he wrote his letters, but was a "Domestic" when he read Paul's letters. So, the people in the writing department are writers when they write the articles, but are actually readers when the publication comes out and they read it. They are then in a position to ask a question for the QFR article. Interesting.

Remember, since the Watchtower is blbe-based, it comes from Jehovah. Obviously Jehovah is not completely sure why he was angry with Aaron's sons, so hence the non-absolute language.

I've got a hundred bucks that a devout JW would say, "No, but that just shows their humility. They aren't dogmatically saying this or that."

No, it just shows they don't know what the hell they're talking about because no deity is giving them clarification regarding their poorly-concocted, myth-dominated storybook.

    WHA-A-A-A-T?

The WATCHTOWER humbly admitting they don't know what they're talking about?

In the words of "The Duke,""THAT'LL BE THE DAY!"
