Elders Wives/kids

How many Elders wives or kids have looked at the congregation files without their husband/father knowing about it? Anyone here have any knowledge of this. How foolish anyone is to go to these people if they keep a written record/file on you. I'll bet most JW's don't know this is done. I didn't realize they kept a file on people. I had the experience of having gone to the elders about a matter only to realize from one of the elder's wife's reaction, that he had told her what I talked to them about. He was DF'd less than a year later for immorality.

It seems like a person who may have done something "wrong" and gone to the elders about it, could have this haunt/embarrass him/her forever after. Even if you moved to a new hall years later, wanting to make a fresh start, you'd still have the feeling that someone may be able to drag up mistakes from your past and that the new elders would already have an opinion of you based on whatever slant the report about you was written with.

God forgives, but the WT policies make sure your errors are never forgotten.

Confidential files are supposed be sealed and locked away at the KH, if I'm not mistaken.

Not that it doesn't mean another elder with the means couldn't do the same thing... open it, read it, and share it with others. I know of it happening.

It can be a bit disturbing to realize just how unsecure that information really is. That's another reason to have as little communication with elders...officially...as possible. They can't record what they don't know...

I read a welcome letter that the cong service department wrote about a guy that moved into my hall when I was around 12. I was shocked. He was married with 4 kids and talked about how, even though he doesn't view pornography, he tends to masturbate.

They also talked about how he missed about 1 meeting a month.

I think this may have been before they asked that letters be more generic. But I remember being terrified to move to a different hall imagining what MY letter would contain.

On the same note, when I moved to AZ to marry my wife I asked to see my welcome letter. They refused. Said it was confidential! I said, "But it's about ME!" I was told, "You need to stop, Brother!"

My father was always letting things slip, or maybe it was because my mother was always prying. My husband, on the other hand, was extremely closed lipped, did not reveal anything. However, he sure took extensive notes at every committee meeting. His notebook was always sitting on his desk. I was a depressed, bored, lonely elder's (i.e. Stepford) wife. Of course I read that notebook regularly. That had a huge bearing on why I never showed up for my committee meetings. His notes were in such detail....How much of the breast was touched, was the nipple fondled, did the nipple get hard, how many fingers were on the nipple, did the other breast get touched or just the left one, when did the erection start - before you touched her, were the pants unzipped .......pages and pages of this....Yes, it was an interesting read, and Yes I beleive most elders wives do snoop - we are a miserable group of people after all.

I would say that wives and kids learn more congregation matters through verbal communication with their husbands than through written correspondence.

I know what you mean, Magwitch. When I got in trouble with one girl in particular they asked things like,

"Did you touch her genials under the clothes?"

"Did you just rub the outside or did you stick your finger inside?"

"Was it more of a "caress" or was it "fondling""?

"Did you take off her bra?"

"Did you put your hand UNDER her bra?"

    "Did you feel her nipples?"

No joke. It really got uncomfortable. Especially when they were writing down my answers! Of course...she was married at the time...I think they were trying to see if her husband had "grounds" for divorce. I was just a dumb 18 year old. She was hot and I had a problem saying no...

B.Dan....That is so horrible! It is also very comical to think of 3 horny and deprived middle aged men getting off on this. It is probably similar to watching porn.

When they asked me if I only rubbed the outside of her vagina or stuck my fingers inside I remember saying, "...awkward!"

Interestingly, my dad was the PO at the time and I didn't get in ANY trouble at all. Imagine that?

Do that give you a "word of honor" or guarantee of confidentality when you talk to them? Or is 'confidentiality' something that JWs just blindly and incorrectly "assume"?
