Thank you, betterdaze. It seems to me, that a deprogrammer's present belief system would bleed through in his work. It would be dificult to avoid that happening. That hassan criticises one aspect of his faith doesn't negate the previous statement. Jews may criticise aspects of their own faith, but if an gentile does so consistently, the cry 'antisemite' isn't long in being heard ringing through the air.
I agree, that it would be difficult to keep one's own beliefs from affecting his or her work. However, in Hassan's case, having read his book, I can tell you that he absolutely does not promote any religion. If you read the book, I would be interested in your opinion on this topic.
You'll note in Hassan's book that religion is not the only focus. There are political and business cults that also rob people of their liberty and strip them of their ability to think for themselves.
The theme of his book is not about religion/belief, but about CONTROL. He wants to empower people to think for themselves. He truly believes that each person, at his core, wants to be FREE.
