LOL. I deserve it after years with a 1200 baud modem.
My next purchase was a Morrow with 2 single-sided floppy disks, no hard drive. One floppy was MS Windows, the other your data.
Then an 8086 PC, then 286, 386, various Pentiums, and now a modern Gateway (for $750!)
I built a few from parts along the way as well. BTW Lady Lee can and has built her own computers! What a gal. But her hands are injured and she can't anymore.
I used to have to spend $3000 or more for a decent computer in the 90s, and they weren't even gamers!

Hey Randy whats considered fast, I'm not computer savvy
my test came out to be
download 2.96
upload .64
ping 66
that good or bad?
Hi wasblind,
it's not fast, the ping is slow, but sufficient for all things except large files and watching videos in good quality (like HD) on Youtube.

Here in Vancouver Canada most in the greater Vancouver area are getting at least 20mg/bits down and 10mg/bits up.
That can be easily improved by paying more per/month.
Yep what a change the computer industry has gone through over the years.
Computers and perfierls are much cheaper and operate much better at the same time.
My first computer back in the 80's was an IBM PS/2 which cost me close to 4 grand, it was probably the best
personal computer you could buy at the time. Cant even remember the specs. since its been more than 20 years ago.
Wish I kept it now, it would be fun to make an comparison to what I have now, but to be honest we didn't know
that computers would evolve has they have done. All I remember it was very slow and you had to have patients , a lot of it.
Does this picture bring back any memories ?
Oh heck,
not only was I bamboozled by the Watchtower corp.
now I'm being hoodwinked by my internet service.
some days I just feel like jumpin' off a cliff. But that's
a whole new topic
Hey randy,
Is that because of my computer or service provider?
I'm still working with my phone modum at 56 Kbps
I'm on FIOS too but I'm not getting those numbers.
wireless...
13.35 download
1.82 upload
ping 17ms
It will only be "fast enough" when what I want to see is on screen before I think about wanting to see it.
