Verizon FIOS is killer! We have 5 roommates so can split the faster speed cost ($15 more).

    using: http://www.speedtest.net/index.php?nojs=1

Anyone get figures like this? Of course it's 11:30 PM too. :-))

    Verizon FIOS speed test

    wireless:

    download: 20.98Mb/s
    upload: 18.35 Mb/s
    ping time 11 ms
800 meg movie download in 5 minutes

    cable connected:

    41.30 Mb/s download
    33.78 Mb/s upload
    ping time: 12ms
800 meg movie download in 3 minutes

With all the video clips and backups I need for Freeminds I have 4 TB storage on 4 different drives.

You can get a 2 Tb drive from Fry's now for $120.

Back in the 80's when they came out with the biggest commercial drive, I got it for a mere $900. Held 900 megabytes. :-))

from $1 a meg to what, .00006 cents?

Since they say your entire brain contains about 1.5 terabytes, I can store 3 people on here. Any volunteers?

I'll clone myself so I caN IRRITATE YOU ALL MULTIPLE TIMES.

    Imagine FOUR Dogpatches!

Of course it wouldn't make me any more intelligent, unless I hack into all your 1.5 TB heads.

Put a firewire jack in your ears and I'll download y'all.

    Mine is D/L 4.48, U/L 0.40, Ping 36ms.

Pretty poor. My SP is billed as the best in the whole country! I live in a rural area, 10 KMS from a major city.

My first computer was only a terminal in my house, with an IBM selectric typewriter and a line printer, with a 1200 baud modem (I think that's 1200 kilobytes per second) connected to the mainframe at Hope Chapel (my church back then) who left it on at night for me, but I couldn't use it during working hours.

I kept my Bethel Ministries Newsletters on their mainframe, and when I wanted to review it, the type lines crossed the computer screen at about one line per 2 seconds. Filling the screen took about a minute. Then I flipped a switch from the modem to switch from the monitor to the printer, and it printed at the same speed!

    God I'm old.

    4.7 down, 0.6 up (TalkTalk)

This is better than previously due to new cabling to the end of each road.
