go for it. i understand being hesitant, not knowing exactly what ur getting into and all that. i get social anxiety rather often and i blame the org/my mom for that. i wasn't to speak unless spoken too, and even when i did say something it was wrong and i was scolded for it, so i learned not to talk much, hence my bad speech communication skills. writing on forums like this makes it easier for me to get out my thoughts tho. currently i would say i only have 1 true friend that i completely trust and a bunch of acquantences (since i live on campus at college).
anyway, a positive thing you have going for you is that you can go with your husband, so your not completely alone. you can fall back on each other if things don't go well at the gathering, umm i mean party ;).
