Never underestimate the power of compartmentalization. Even before I left I knew a sister that was a therapist, I actually went to see her a couple times AND she knew about the child abuse that was going on, although she reported it to the authorities. Granted younger people may be a little bit more open minded, but like Steve said people just will not make the connection if they are in that frame of mind - how many of us have heard the two ideas of cult and JW together while we were JW and just rationalized it away?

Also isn't it true there have been psychiatric hospitals that are specifically for JWs, with a staff of JWs? I seem to recall hearing about such things on this very site.
