What Makes These 2 Fragrances Smell Similar?

Maybe it reminds you of me... :)
I get compliments on my scent almost daily...
I find that Estee Lauder's "White Linen" and Clinique's "Happy" (same master company) smell almost identical. Both are light and fruity.

Now that I am thinking about it I have gotten more compliments when further south if wearing a Gardenia-esque fragrance than say a fruity smell.

Pure Patchouli is wonderful!

The Burberry plaid and the aroma remind me of something unpleasant, Changeling.
I haven't been able to pinpoint it yet.
I like them both equally, YKnot.
Sometimes I mix them together.
There's a story about me and Tabu and a convention in New Orleans, Louisiana, 1978.
Maybe someday I'll tell it ...
