I had two cousins who reacted severely to vaccinations so my mother didn't have us vaccinated. We went to the doctor every year right before school started and had a physical. The doctor would then give us a letter to take to school saying that we were healthy.
Later, when I started college, I had my vaccinations as an adult.
With my biological son, I held out on his vaccinations until it was time for him to start school. That way, he'd be older and stronger. We have an Air Force Base near here and he went to school with people from all over the world with varying levels of vaccinations so I didn't want to put him at risk by sending him to school unvaccinated.
With my stepchildren, since none of their biological family have reacted badly to vaccines, I keep them fully vaccinated.
My husband works at a university and go whooping cough about 18 months ago. It was a NIGHTMARE. I'd recommend the vaccination to anyone, he was so sick that he just cried.
