By means of km2/02 we already have the numbers for the first two months. Firstly, I looked at it because I was curious if there would be any effect of the events of Sep 11th. But when I went back down to 1993. I hope I did the format correctly. There is no preview option, is there?

You clearly see that there was a turn-over by the change of the generation teaching. 2002 will be interesting because of the WTC attack and the WT asscocition with the DPI-Department of the UNO.

    G'day GermanJW,

Thanks for the figs - very interesting to see the continuing downward trend.

Can you give us the Baptism figures. We've seen in other places, most notably in Japan, that the decreasing baptism figures signal future decreases. It's been described as a "revolving door" i.e. whilst many come into the organisation by the 'front door' (baptisms), more go out through the 'back door' ( become inactive).

Hint for posting: Use the lower case keys [ ] instead of the upper case keys < > when you are wishing to highlight.

    Cheers,
    Ozzie

Yes, your analysis is precisely correct. It is necessary to compare each month(s) of the service year to the same month(s) in previous years.

I have noticed the same thing in Canada - a tiny increase in September, followed by the usual decrease in October. Canadian baptisms for the same period are down by 65 - a 20% decrease.

So, the Sept 11 tragedy did not have much impact on JW zeal. The rotting continues.

This is good because it shows that the terrorism is having little
or no effect on the continuing decline - except for a small
rally in the U.S. that may prove temporary.

As requested here are the Baptism figures. While I cannot see any pattern to predict 2002 totals there is without a negative trend over the years.

Would anyone be so kind to contribute the U.S. figures vs. some preceding years, please? Metatron is right: in the U.S. it may have a more obvious effect.
