The LCD shutter spectacles is 1990s technology. We were using them with our Amigas to view animations in 1995.
While watching Avatar I would turn the glasses upside down and wear them that way. The depth perception was reversed so closer objects looked like they were cut out of the background. Now THAT was fun!
