It is important to have REAL freinds

I don't know about you but I'm real. If there are any other real people out there, this message is for you:

I am going to go away for awhile. You've helped me more than you can know. You may not know me but you've made a big impact on my life. I read all your posts and have come to love you. I might be gone for just the weekend or maybe for good. I'd love it if you'd friend me on my facebook page. My name is Paul Suf.

Virtual friends are just as real as those in the real world. They behave the same way (for the most part). They have the same feelings. T^hey make the same mistakes and they offer the best of who they are.

I think like many people who come from authoritarian groups (or families) they have little idea of the impact they make on the lives of others. Most of us here have left the JWs and have no idea what impact we made. We become invisible. I don't think it is a huge jump to think that when we leave here we become invisible and in a way when we are here we are invisible so the jump might not be too large.

Many people are uncomfortable with goodbyes. It's not like we had a lot of practice with it as JWs. Even when people died we didn't say goodbye - no grieving process to go through because we would see them again. So goodbye threads might make them very uncomfortable.

And oddly enough many times when someone makes one of those goodbye threads they see how much of an impact they have made and then decide to stay. lol

That's my point, aren't the people here real? If not, why come here at all?

    Hi Paul,

Yeah, I'm the twit that put up the ultimate good-bye thread.

The only reason why it was put up was so when people had hissy-fits with, let's say, moderator decisions, and leave in tears then come back a day later they could just give us the lame-o update. It's not meant to piss anyone off who decides they've had enough and want to say goodbye, or whatever they need to do to get on with their lives. When I left the first time, I didn't log on here for over two years once.

People can be whatever they want to be on the net, Paul. Right now I'm a rabid monkey - hope you like him. In real life, I'm something else but I don't like to blather my life all out there on the net, if possible. I'm rather fortunate in that I have a lot of family that are not in the cult. Very fortunate.

It's very different when someone posts a good-bye thread because they are simply moving on with their lives.

The ones who say good-bye dramatically, then post 2 hours later crack me up.

There have been a couple of people I really liked that I have lost contact with.

Paul remember too, that quite often people who have disappeared will pop up again one day.

    Now where has Farkel been???

I keep in regular contact in real life with my real friends whom I can see. For all I know dinah's cat in the picture is dead, which would lead her to be a total fraud. Also, bekepers brain could actually be in her head, which, too, could lead me to believe she is a total fraud.

    Kiss me!

And you? I have to wonder if you are actually as handsome as your avatar suggests monkey. Are you a fraud??

    Oh lover...

I posted my picture here ONCE on this forum for fifteen minutes. One poster (who isn't here anymore) saved the darned thing, which, although innocent enough, freaked me out! "Oh, you're so beautiful!" The few people that I have met, I tell the specifically NOT to post any pictures of me. I'm just not into the internet life, thing.

Guess what I'm saying, Bekonkers, is we must meet at a pre-arranged meet-up for you to see my picture. But I'm sure with my email address you can see my real name, love, which I'm sure you keep on the down low.

If you would like to imagine me, think of Brad Pitt in fight club. Close enough, love.

    Kiss me!
