Let me help you darth frosty:
From house to house
From door to door
La-la.....la-la....la laaaaaaa...........
Dark days are here.,
Men live in fear ...
With dire expectation as to all creation??
Remember that song. The first part was slash your wrists and the second part was jump up and down. wohoo.
The new song book is the worst. If you thought that the old one was bland and monotone, you don’t know bland and monotone my friends. The new songs don’t last more than 4 min, and the majority consists of 3 to 4 verses. The lyrics lack real feelings and emotions, very mechanic; they look more like paragraphs from a WT study article than a real song. Go to JW.org and download the vocal rendition…that is if you are willing to subject your self to that torture.
Great observation. Heard samples of the new song, no improvement.
The first time I heard gospel music as a kid I wanted to know why we didn't sing like that. I used to sneak and listen to christian radio as a JW, the songs were always so inspiring. Now I listen to christian radio and gospel whenever I want...it can range from simply beautiful to inspirational to outright funky.
Does anyone have a link to the post that Darth Frosty referred to??
Have you noticed how some of the song lyrics can be misread.
Song 35 states
God is love and there forbids us walk in loves excelling way.
There a some dreadful rhymes as well
In a land so broad and spacious.
Free from strife and things vexacious
See a happy crowd vivacious
In gods service that is efficacious.
As soon as the music starts I crease up.
Even though the old songs were bad the new songs are so bland they make lift music sound good. They are full of lyrics about obediance and have no light and shade musically sleeping. All you need is a brother with a monotonous voice and quite frankly everyone will be asleep by the end of the prayer.
