Can't you hang plastic or a blanket over the fireplace? My mom used to do that and you could see it sucking in and blowing out, but the air never made it past the plastic. My mom would find a way to attach it. You are barefoot, freezing, and asking WHY?!

at last check it was 39degrees C here- I m not far off putting my kids into bath again... it's our indoor pool on hot days like this... apparently it will rain over the next couple of days, but who knows- all I see outside is dust in the sky and no rain clouds... I will be so glad when we move further south!
