What has really helped for me to lose weight, and more importantly, feel better is to do cardio exercise (brisk walking is great) 3-4 times a week and resistance training (weights or exercise bands) a couple of times a week. As mentioned before, stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.

The single biggest help for me was to switch my eating habits from 2-3 larger meals a day to 5 smaller meals per day (approximately 200-300 calories each). It keeps your blood sugar much more stable and thus you don't get the cravings to overindulge or splurge. Eat that way 3-4 days a week, and then boost your calorie intake for one day and then return to the 3-4 day a week schedule. That keeps you from getting into a metabolic rut. Cut out the booze for a while. You will be amazed how good you will start to fell and how quickly the weight will drop off. It is much easier than it sounds...good luck!!

keep a food diary and write down every single thing you eat and drink and the times. packet of crisps, can of coke cup of tea 2.30 etc

it will show you whats going in when and show you if theres any particular times of day you need to readjust
