It seems to me that what the authorities are really upset about is the literature. The ban is on 18 pieces of literature. Maybe they view it as some type of religious "pornography."

You need help, people shouldn't be killed or imprisoned for their religious beliefs. Would you really want to live somewhere where the government imprisons people for belonging to a cult? I'm all for freedom of speech but calling for people to be stoned to death crosses the line into intolerence, fascism and persecution. You are doing a great disservice to all the people on this board trying to recover from their involvement in the JW cult. You are an idiot, see a shrink. NO CAEDES I'M doing a great service to this board, BY POINT OUT THAT THE LEADERS OF THE WTBTS SHOULD BE PUT IN JAIL OF GIVING THE ELECTRIC CHAIR. I'LL EVEN PULL THE SWITCH WITH A BIG SMILE ON MY FACE to kill $CUM BAGS THAT DESTROY LIVES AND KILLJW'S BY THE 1000'S PER YEAR WITH THEIR BLOOD POLICY ECT. i LOVE THe STORIES I HEAR about young jw women that lose their lives during child birth because they BLEED TO DEATH!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT A GREAT FREEDOM OF RELIGION THAT BRAIN WASHES 20-30 YEAR OLD YOUNG WOMEN TO DIE HAVING CHILD BIRTH FOR THE I'VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING GOOD THE WTS DOES EXCEPT FOR $$$$$$$$$ FOR IT SELF . HELP ME IF I'M WRONG??????????????????? AND DON'T TELL ME THEY HELPED ON SOME FLOOD ETC. BECAUSE THEY MAKE $$$$$$$$$$$ FROM DONATIONS ON THESE THINGS... An d never give out next to a dime from the wts bank account...... you have a lot to learn......................

    Judge rutherfraud,

Quit SHOUTING, you sound like a twelve year old.

Tell me, how would killing any witness help any other witness to escape the cult? They love the idea of being persecuted, killing JWs would only play into the hands of the WBTS. Or is this ridiculous revenge fantasy of yours just an attempt to hide your own shame at being duped by them?

Nice attempt at a strawman, I don't support the WTBS at all and never have, as an atheist I would however, fight to the death to support an individuals right to worship as they see fit (providing they don't harm anyone else of course).

No you aren't doing great service, you are making ex-witnesses look like wild-eyed, foaming at the mouth crazy people. The sooner you sit down and take a good long hard look at what your anger is achieving, the better.

Killing Jehovah's Witnesses, their lawyers and/or putting them in jail is NOT the route for any country to go.

    I'm against that.

    Kenneson,

I couldn't agree more, however much I disagree with the JWs and no matter that they belong to a cult, they still have a fundamental human right to believe as they wish. jailing people for their religious belief (provided the practice of that belief doesn't harm other people) is wrong and undemocratic.

Maybe they view it as some type of religious "pornography."

    Isn't it that?

    Awake! 1/22 1971 p. 16:

The word ["pornography"] comes from the Greek pornográphos, which literally means ‘harlot writing’ or ‘the writing of prostitutes.’

Who is constantly writing of "the great harlot?"

provided the practice of that belief doesn't harm other people

This board would not exist if the Jw cult was not harmful. And what can we do about it legally...nothing ...because the courts refuse to get involved ...thanks to the sacred cow "freedom of religion" Any secular organization would be held accountable. The Russian Gov seem to understand the threat of unbridled WT propaganda and want to protect their citizens... I say good on them

No one can stop them from passive belief. I doubt that modern Russians are anything like the Soviets in that respect. They are governed by thugs and the Russian Orthodox church.

As to persecution, don't put too much faith in the notion that it makes the organization stronger. Individuals perhaps but if anyone thinks it doesn't inhibit growth, they have much growth to account for, after bans are lifted.

This is a tough situation on many fronts. The WTS organization is full of flawed extreme policies that harm its members. The court ruling will further harm the members of the WTS. If the ruling could impact those responsible – the GB and their assistants – then at least the universal principle of reaping and sowing would make the decision at least somewhat palatable. But having the individual brothers and sisters in Russia suffer the consequences is just wrong.

It is also ironic that a totalitarian government (slight exaggeration) is censuring another totalitarian organization (no exaggeration).

The history of court victories in the US early in the WTS history has emboldened the current legal department to be in a hurry to the courtroom. If the WTS is really interested in opening up Russia to its religion it should have used diplomatic approaches highlighting the benefits and responsibilities that come to nations deemed “most favored nations” to allow open and free commerce. The principles that come with MFN status would protect their flawed religion. The arrogance of the legal boys got in the way in this situation
