JWfacts, the generation is not "the anointed over the last 2000 years." The Society is not quite so stupid enough to suggest that the "generation" is 2,000 years long. According to their definition, the new understanding is that the "generation" is the "modern-day" segment of this anointed class. There was a first-century "generation" and now there is a modern-day "generation".
"As a class, these anointed ones make up the modern-day "generation" of contemporaries that will not pass away "until all these things occur." This suggests that some who are Christ's anointed brothers will still be alive on earth when the foretold great tribulation begins." Watchtower 2008 Feb 15 p.24.
What they mean by "modern-day" I am unsure of although they probably still mean 1914 as the starting point.
