    How many times have workmates told my wife (and me in times past) that "you don't seem the same as the ones that call on my door" . That's because when they got to know us, we were pretty normal.

    Aunt Bee is right . It is an anachronism to dress a youngster in a suit & tie.

    I think you're actually right here in that when a business man comes to your door in a suit and tie you will seem a bit off-put like he's a slick, snake-oil salesman trying to put one over on you. But if a community advocate comes to your door wearing maybe a polo shirt and khakis you're more apt to listen to what they're trying to tell you because they make you feel comfortable like they're more sincere.

    Dressing up for service certainly could be becoming a detriment in many communities.
