I think they're going to have to come up with new light and start using women as MS and elders. After all there are a lot of elderettes already

First of all I was a number 5 on Blondie's list. It just didn't interest me.

Again the one size fits all approach doesn't work. When we joined a mainstream church I found all sorts of things to get involved in. I spoke about JW's, I worked in the nursery for awhile ( oh right, they don't have those at the KH), I worked in some other projects. On of the best weekends ever was at a men's retreat put on by four churches in the area. Among other things they served some seriously good BBQ for lunch (proceeded by a REALLY funny prayer from an African-American pastor - and yes its OK to laugh during prayer).

If the WTBS wants more involvement they are going to have to start with something better than sitting on your a$$ for for two hours at a time.

Last week one of my friends told me that he was asked to switch congregations because that congregation needs brothers reaching out. But that congregation has 128 publishers and several brothers. That congregation within the last 10 years removed 6 elders. According to other brothers the removals were because of power struggles within that elder body. So that congregation is now recruiting from other congregations. And this brother is not even a ministerial servant or elder that they asked.

Therefore this problem apparently is world-wide if it is in the KM. Maybe the WTBS needs to be more careful before removing the brothers they already have so quickly.

Actually, some elders have suggested that women be used for some things, like microphones, reading, accounts, but were told no, that if there were no brothers, the elders would have to lower themselves to do this. Occasionally, I heard of small congregations that had women do mikes and accounts, reading at book studies, but there is a big resistance, especially from the COs.

LOL @ B the X! Thanks for the laugh!

"Preach to men - We need new ones, the old ones are on to us...."

OR... "Preach to men - We need new ones, the old ones are dying off..."

So what do they do when it's a single person or single parent household and it's the woman or mother that's the head?

    Is this for real?

I have often thought this about the WTS on the whole.

Again, Blondie's comment invites comparison to mainstream churches. Many of them have women doing any number of things; notably running women's ministries (again the problem with one size fits all!). There is no scriptural reason not to use quailified women for positions of responsibility.

all they have to do is publish the date of Armageddon.

They are most likely working on this--they just haven't come up with a bible based angle yet!

I was a # 4 on Blondies list and became a # 5 - didn't want to reach out again for MS or elder because I saw too many injustices being committed towards brothers who served ( including myself ). I saw too many political games and manipulation of the " buddy system " and brown nose effect which got a lot of moronic brothers appointed to elder or MS. In seeing this abuse of power in the witness organization I'm quite sure I'm not the only one among men who got turned off to the idea of what the WT society calls " reaching out to be used " . The term " being used " is highly appropriate I feel - but not in the good or pleasant sense ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper
