I think the problem with religion is speculation. And religion by its nature is pure speculation. In my opinion speculation is a dangerous tool and should be used carefully and based on known facts. Speculation also seems to be part of the human condition therefore religion seems to be a very hard thing to abandon completely for most people. I personally hold the point of view that religion is an evolved form of superstition.

My conclusion is religion is dangerous and unnecessary.

Responce: That is a very interesting point but if you where going to be consistant. If "speculation" is based on "known facts" as you put it then would it no longer be "speculation"? Just a reductio in logic. Also, epistomolocialy (how we know what we know), if we verified "known facts" such as documentation, ect... then it is inconsistant with speculation. (BTW it was this type of thinking that got me out of the WT.)

"speculation" is not = to "known facts"

    Just being consistant (;)]

    cheers with beers,

PS, Evolution is speculation. In fact it's about as bad as a con job as the Watchtower. Don't tell me you got hoodwinked, swindled, bamboozled.

True but there is a diference between speculation based on speculation and speculation based on (or rooted in) facts.
