    Wwiz-

They don't bother to point out sources, because we don't need to do any more research ourselves.

There was a WT that actually said the gofors dont need to do their own research because the FDS has already done it all for them. Wanting to delve deeper is in effect saying they have not provided you with sufficient food at the proper time.

In fact, there were two cases I remember, where they cited sources:

Wayne Dyer "we are living a spiritual experience" from his book "you'll believe it when you see it" a mystical exposition of reincarnation and previous lives all working together to help us understand ourselves (WHY would somebody at Beth Hell read that???)

And the other was from "Toxic Parents - overcoming their Hurtful Legacy" Which is all about abuse and how abusive relationships control the victim on many levels, rather like the WT actually.

maybe there is a mole in the writing dept. Weren't several people dismissed recently??

    Thanx 'gain Blondie.

    Blondie asked:

"one Bible dictionary--which one, who put it together, what is their lifestyle like?"

A Dictionary of the Bible, John D. Davis, 1917, Presbyterian Board of Publication and Sabbath School Work.

It looks like they cribbed the maps from this book for the early editions of the NWT, the green covered ones.

I will post pics if possible.

"HALLELUJAH" That exclamation is commonly heard in Christendom's churches. Some people punctuate daily conversations with the expression. Few, however, know its sacred meaning, and the lifestyle of many who use it dishonors God. (Titus 1: 16)

OK, so first of all, they bitch that no one except Jehovah's Witnesses use the name "Jehovah". Even though we know that that simply is not true, let's give the Writing Dept. the benefit of the doubt on this one and concede that only JW's use the name. But wait a minute! Now they're admitting that other people outside of Dub-dumb land use the expression "Hallelujah" which means "Praise Jah". But we can't have that either! So let us now claim that everyone who uses the name who's not a Dub has a bad life-style (which no doubt includes drinking blood after sacrificing goats to Satan on Sunday). That way, we can still look down our noses at them. A perfect Catch-22.

You know that the works of sinful mankind are seldom based on righteousness. Often they are an expression of greed, envy, and haughtiness.

Wow! Sounds just like a group of men who reside in Patterson!

That is evident from the fiendish weapons men produce for the wars they foment and for economic gain. These bring untold misery
and horror to miilions of innocent victims. Also, many human works have been accomplished at the expense of the oppressed poor. An
example that many might cite is the use of slaves to build the pyramids.

While there's no doubt mankind has brought 'untold misery and horror' to their fellow man, I think it's worth noting that many historians and archaeologists do not believe that the pyramids were built with slave labour----they were most likely built using paid labourers.

Some five centuries later, Jehovah used his power in an even greater way by delivering repentant humans from slavery to sin and death. (Rom. 5:12) One result was that the way was opened for 144,000 humans to become spirit-anointed followers of Christ. In 1919, Jehovah used his power to deliver a small remnant of these anointed ones from captivity to false religion. Their accomplishments during this time of the end can only be attributed to God's power. Upon proving faithful to death, they will share with Jesus Christ in ruling from heaven over the earth for the benefit of repentant humans. (Rev. 2: 26, 27; 5:9, 10) They will inherit the earth in a far grander way than did ancient Israel. --Matt. 5:5.

Notice that they could not and did not provide any scriptural reference to the "1919" date? And what is this crap about "their accomplishments during this time of the end can only be attributed to God's power"? According to their own writings, by 1918, the Organization became a spiritual whore no better than Babylon the Great herself:

"Like the Israelites of Isaiah's day, the spiritual Israelites sold themselves because of wrong practices and came into bondage to the world empire of false religion, that is to say, to Babylon the Great, and to her worldly paramours. (2 Ki. 17:17; 1 Ki. 21:20, 25) An outstanding instance of this occurred during World War I of 1914-1918."----November 15, 1980 Watchtower (p. 26-27)

    Mary said:

"And what is this crap about "their accomplishments during this time of the end can only be attributed to God's power"? "

The Watchtower writers crudely practice what the redactors of the OT did with great finesse: they impose a a current view onto a story that all know. Are we Jehovah's Witnesses? Well, so was Abel, the "first witness". Jesus was one of Jehovah's Witnesses too.

When we grew as a group? Well, only God's power could do that. (not Jehovah's power? Why the use of God here? Is it more powerful?)

They are forever rewriting the reasons for what happened in the past. 1874? Well, Jesus evidently did come, but invisibly.

Eventually, the ones who remembered what they really said are gone, not enough copies of the original are around and so it slowly becomes that the witnesses (actually the bible students) predicted 1914!

This is why the WT does not want people to do their own research; it reveals a process that in their case is very amateurish.
