The scriptures say that Solomon turned away from 'god' in his later years and this is attributed to the influence of his wives.

How can this be correct? It seems that from day one Solomon had no special affection for 'god's laws' to have so many wives in the first place.

Most people would expect 700 wives and 300 concubines to be high maintainence.

Wouldn't you think there would be an awful lot of cat fights and chaos?

How do you suppose anyone could keep order without mutiny in an environment like that?

Do you suppose that Solomon had a plan?

Was it really romance that caused him to take on so many women?

Or was it for political alliances?

How did Solomon manage to keep so many women satisfied?

With so many wives, most people would go broke.

    How did he support them?

    ...Or did they support him?

Did he build them all 'temples' and pimp them out as temple prostitutes?

Perhaps the Mormons go back further than we thought.

In Western culture, a man woos a woman.

It never did seem to set right with me that the Queen of Sheba apparently wooed Solomon with many extravagant gifts.

    What was that all about?

Do any historians know....was there a shortage of men during that time?

Could that be why Solomon took so many wives?

Why was he such a prize that Queen of Sheba would make such a display?

Geneology has been very important in ancient Biblical texts.

Bearing this in mind, and also that Jesus was to come through the lineage of King David, Solomon's father.....

why is it that none of Solomon's wives nor concubines are even registered with names in the 'holy scrolls"??

    Solomon's wives are nameless. WHY?

Other than this Bible story...is there any real evidence that Solomon existed?

Are there any treasures on display from this most wealthy of kingdoms?

Seems there was a Broadway show entitled "700 Wives".

Both Sarah Jessica Parker and Jessica Simpson played contenders among Solomon's many wives.

Seems the play was short lived. Reviews weren't very good either.

Maybe there was no plot because too many questions remained unanswered.

Solomon's talent (other than sex monger) was wisdom....yet he turned away from God in his later years. Did Solomon become an APOSTATE too? Were his wise eyes opened to the truth about the Borg? Better late than never I suppose.

Jews think that the 700 wives and 300 concubines are probably a myth and here's why: in Judaism as opposed to Christianity, the wife can demand her marital due from her husband, not the other way around. If Solomon had that many women to deliver to, he would never have had time to do anything else. Not to mention he would have been nothing but skin and bones.

To truly understand the OT, Christians will have to stop interpreting it literaly. Just saying.
