King Solly, thanks for bringing back this thread, it was reading threads such as this that showed me, when I first found this site, that despite decades within the WT I knew nothing about the Bible and the world of scholarly work that is out there.
I appreciated too that this site had true scholars who really knew their stuff, like Narc and the estimable Leo, whereas the WT simply had non-educated guys practicing Eisegesis in a ridiculous way to back up the false teachings of the WT.
This very thread prompted me to shoot down a long time JW who contended that "Jesus saying "you will be with me in Paradise" proves the Earthly hope."
I countered by saying that the man on the cross next to Jesus would have thought of Heaven when paradise was mentioned, the JW never came back to me to prove otherwise.
