    excerpt:

    http://www.inspiredbooks.com/Old-Testament-Prophecy.htm

The Dead Sea Scrolls tells us:

    1. Melchizedek is one and the same as ‘the Lord’ in the Old
    Testament
(when not referring to God Himself.) (DSC 11Q13) This
agrees with statements in The Urantia Book.

    2. Melchizedek is the Lord/Messiah who comes in the last days when
"all the nations" come against modern Israel as prophesied by the
Old Testament Prophets (11Q13) This agrees with The Urantia Book
statements to the effect that Melchizedek is soon to be our Planetary
Prince, a World Messiah in residence. (UB 1025 and 1251)

UB 1024 This same Melchizedek continued to collaborate throughout
the succeeding nineteen centuries with the many prophets and
    seers, thus endeavoring to
keep alive the truth of until …
    Michael’s (Christ’s) appearance on earth.

We know now that not only did Melchizedek minister in semi-material form after his physical ministry, but also that he "collaborated" with the prophets. This semi-material collaboration with the Old Testament prophets resulted in the prophetic Old Testament scripture we have today. Melchizedek collaborated with Abraham, with Moses, with Jacob, with Elijah, with Isaiah, with Jeremiah, with Ezekiel, with Daniel, with the twelve "minor prophets" Joel through Malachi, with the Teacher of Righteousness of the Dead Sea Scrolls, and with Enoch.

    1. Melchizedek is a Son of God below the order that Jesus is from (UB 335)

    2. After the failure of Adam and Eve he was sent here to begin
restoring the divine plans for our world. (UB 853)

    3. He was here on our world, beginning around 2000 B.C., for
approximately 100 years as an adult physical being of the
    realm. (UB 1015)

    4. His main goal was to prepare a people, Israel, that would

understand and recognize Jesus , Son of God and Son of Man.

    5. He first had to establish monotheism, the concept of the One God,
so that the Son of the One God, Jesus, could be understood. This
was accomplished mainly through the Patriarchs and Prophets of
Israel, especially Elijah whose successful campaign established the
One God over and above the multitude of tribal gods (Baals)
    previously in existence. (UB 1062)
    6. He brings God’s covenant to Abraham (UB); he is the‘messenger’
of God’s covenant with Abraham. (Malachi 3:1)
    7. He collaborated with the Prophets to bring God’s plans and
perspectives to man (Israel). (UB 1024). In addition there is a multitude of
other information about Melchizedek in The Urantia Book which fills
out our knowledge of this previously mysterious figure.

Seems I read somewhere awhile back that Melchizedek taught the prophets at the Mystery School at Mt. Carmel and also instructed Moses.

Whatever this Melchizedek is, I think it's evil.

What does WT say about this character?

    What say you people?

Jesus He is said to be like (Melchizedek because he had no begining and no end.)......that is anything really written about him in that way...no record of his birth or death.

And he was also a King/Priest...

Human ages end because the weeds eventually overgrow the good seed. This happens because there is no one to pluck up the weeds along the way. Only a divine leadership can have the authority and wisdom to do this consistently and effectively over long periods of time. Not only man, but even most lower orders of divine beings are incapable of self-governance as is discussed in The Urantia Book.

UB 766 Without help from superhuman sources the strain of society
breaks down upon reaching certain limits, and these very
influences of social mobilization –hunger, love, vanity and
fear – conspire to plunge mankind into war and bloodshed.

Melchizedek surely understands this and just as surely would have provided a solution for it in his "comprehensive plan" for rehabilitation of the planet. I wonder if he is challenged by any impatience as he waits for harvest time and the beginning of a new dispensation for his estranged children, to whom he has devoted so much, for so long.

....other prophetic material in the Dead Sea Scrolls may also be highly accurate and important. Since the Teacher’s prophecies clearly focused on a future Messianic time period, when all is set right in the world, this body of prophecy is likely to be very important to our situation today at the close of The Age, just before the arrival of the Messiah, Melchizedek. What a "coincidence" that these Scrolls have just been recently found and brought to our attention today, the very day of its relevance

It sounds like a deception coming on here. Melchizedek the Messiah? I don't think so. But I wonder if WT or some of the other religions are going to slant in this direction? I 'm sure it's all planned out.

I am starting to suspect that "Melchizedek" is a code word for some herb, weed or fungus that "collaborates" with the prophets.

Thanks, Burn. Your reply led me to this piece of info. It seems that Melchizedek is something of a transformer. Hmmm.....seems to be an entity that transforms himself to suit a situation so he appears as an "angel of Light".

..... when Melchizedek first appears in the Cannonical Old Testament in Genesis Chapter 14

he is presented as the King of the City of Salem. Salem is a derivative of the word Shalom, which means "peace." Salem was also the name for the Babylonian god Shalmanu, {god of twilight.} The Babylonian name for Salem was Urusalim which meant the foundation of the God named Salem, or the god of peace. The Salem that Mechelzedek was king of is Urusalim / Jerusalem.

Melchizedek first appeared in the Canonical Old Testament as the "king of Salem" bringing bread and wine( a communion/mass ?} to Abraham after his victory in "The Battle Of The Kings" {Gen 14:1-11} four kings had besieged Sodom and Gomorrah and captured Abrahams {Abram} nephew Lot .

Abraham musters his forces and rescues his relative Lot. After the battle Melchizedek blesses Abraham and In turn, Abraham gave Melchizedek a tithe of the bounty that had taken in battle.

... Jerusalem's king during the Israelite invasion of Canaan had a similar name of Adonizedek.

Adonizedek translates to "lord of Zedek" , as we have previously stated zedek means righteousness ,therefore Adonizedek also means Lord or King of Righteousness, and there is every probability the Adonizedek and Mechilzedek may be one and the same. .............So Melchizedek is Adonizedek, and Adonizedek is the Lord or King of Righteousness, and we still don't know who Melchizedek is other than the King of Salem / King of Righteousness, Peace and Justice.

Several Hebrew rabbinical sources make the claim that Michelzedek was actually Shem the son of Noah.

The Palestinian Targum (Targum of Jonathan ben Uzziel) on Genesis 14:18 says Melchizedek was “Shem son of Noah, the king of Yerushalem.”

The Hebrew race traces their origins from Shem. Semitic deriving from "Shem" has been used to refer to Jews as well as closely related races of the Middle East. Many scholars have argued that Abram and Shem were not contemporaries. However the Book of Jasher which is mentioned in the Old Testament , and was only rediscovered in the nineteenth Century claims they did coexist on this Earth.

(you can read the scriptures from Book of Jasher and additional info here: http://www.geocities.com/nephilimnot/michelzedek.html )

In the Dead Sea Scrolls a series of thirteen fragments were found pertaining to Melchizedek. Belief that Melchizedek was a/the Messiah was a strongly held conviction among the Qumran community, as well as other Jewish and Gnostic sects of the first century A.D.

He shall proclaim this decree in the first week of the jubilee period that follows nine jubilee periods. Then the "Day of Atonement" shall follow after the tenth jubilee period, when he shall atone for all the Sons of Light, and the people who are predestined to Melchizedek. (...) upon them (...) For this is the time decreed for the "Year of Melchizedek`s favour", and by his might he will judge God`s holy ones and so establish a righteous kingdom, as it is written about him in the Songs of David ; "A godlike beinghas taken his place in the council of God; in the midst of divine beings he holds judgement" (ps. 82;1). Scripture also says about him ; "Over it take your seat in the highest heaven; A divine being will judge the peoples" (Ps. 7;7-8) Concerning what scripture says ; " How long will you judge unjustly , and show partiality with the wicked? Selah" (Ps. 82;2), the interpretation applies to Belial and the spirits predestined to him, because all of them have rebelled, turning from God`s precepts and so becoming utterly wicked. Therefore Melchizedek will thoroughly prosecute the vengeance required by God`s statutes. Also, he will deliver all the captives from the power of Belial, and from the power of all the spirits destined to him. Allied with him will be all the "righteous divine beings"(Isa. 61;3). (The ...) is that whi(ch ...all) the divine beings.

"Zion" is the congregation of all the sons of righteousness

Can anyone explain what this next paragraph means?

"The heavenly deliverer is Melchizedek. Identical with the Archangel Michael, he is head of the 'Sons of Heaven,' or 'God's of Justice' and is referred to as Elohim and 'el'... Here Melchizedek is portrayed as presiding over the final judgment and condemnation of his demonic counterpart Belial/ Satan, the Prince of Darkness... The great act of deliverance is expected to occur on the Day of Atonement at the end of the tenth Jubilee cycle." Vermes, Geza. The Complete Dead Sea Scrolls in English

Many Scholars seem to believe that Christianity ,Catholicism in particular has Melchizedek morphing into the Archangel Michael, which would seem to be at odds with some, but not all ancient writings. For instance the Dead Sea Scrolls mention Melchizedek as the prince of light and assigns some attributes to him which the Catholics assign to Michael

Philo, a prolific first-century Jewish philosopher interprets the text of Genesis in an allegorical format, seeing Melchizedek as a reference to the divine Logos, the thought of God in which the pattern of all existing things is conceived and the "image" of God according to which man was created.

Michelzedek then is an early archetypical / prototype of The Logos become flesh

Doesn't he seem like some sort of immortal transformer?

Melchizedek is a made up fictitious character. One might as well be talking about the Wizard of Oz!

I don't like the Bible writers for making up these imaginary characters and then passing them off as having really existed.

    VM,

I think these myths and legends hold information to be dissected.

I think Melchizedek was a DEMON.

I think these same demons......will present themselves in the near future as "Sons of God" to bring enlightenment to mankind and take us into the next quantum leap.

I also think that they are devious and sly and this future presentation will also be a trick.
