My heartfelt sympathy to you! We had to put down our 18 year old Orange Tabby a few months ago -- he survived at least 9 lives, and several moves. He was our pal and will always be missed.

My favourite cat is buried about 10 ft from where I stand.

I am OK with that now, but it took a while to get over the loss of my non-judgemental friend of 14 years.

Photos of him still bring back wonderful memories many years later.

You will be gratefull to have been Rocky's friend for many years to come.

So sorry to hear that. I hope you can get another cat. I had to let my cat down after a terrible fight with other cats, that lasted 3 days. I know how it feels.

HON! I am sooooo sorry to hear about your Rocky..........I had to have my kitty boy Trouble put to sleep on Tuesday. I truly know the pain you are going through..........I am still grieving.........I just received a wonderful card from the vet and a paper with his pawprints on it and a little poem taped in the center entitled Rainbow Bridge.........not sure if anyone posted it to your thread yet, so here it is:

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

    troubled mind...

woke up and seen your post...very sad. I also posted on sunny's thread a few days ago that vinny mentioned and what I wrote there applies here. Your Rocky was a beautiful cat.

I had a cat named Zac that was also about 14 when he died pretty suddenly. It took me a couple of years before my heart was ready for another. I also went to a shelter where I met my cat Max (as in Maxine..lady at the shelter named her that). Max is not a lap cat....but most mornings she wants to lie on my chest and just be there for a little bit...just as she did this morning... best thing I ever did getting her a year ago.

No cat will replace your Rocky...but as soon as your heart allows...go to a shelter and get another cat....that will find another place in your heart...

Peace to you and to your dear Rocky....

Thank you for all the replies . My eyes are a bit raw this morning from crying yesterday .

I called all my kids and told them the news . My husband is at a tournament so I am waiting until he gets back this afternoon to tell him .

Today I need to put his food dish away and get rid of the litter box .I LOVE cats ,but he may have been my last one . Over the years my husband has developed allergies and having a cat around has not been the best thing for him.

Rocky just had such a great personality .One of those cats that loved his people and I am sure thought we were his pets !I am going to miss him so much .

The vet was kind enough to offer to keep his body until spring , so I can bury him at home in the garden where he loved to sun him self in the summer .

So, sorry to hear of the loss of your baby Rocky. If he was a lap cat you will miss that for a long time. I wish animals could live longer or didn't get things that would make them sick. They are just here with us for a little while so enjoy them as long as they are here. I lost a parrot we had for 25 years. She spoke in my voice & my exs. It was so quiet when she died. I kept the radio on for days trying to fill the void. I had no idea how much you can miss a pet like that! I feel your pain troubled mind.
