An elder said at the meeting Sunday that "apostate literature

is poison and that if you read it you run the risk of falling out

of the Truth as many of our dear brothers have."

I almost laughed out loud. You mean to tell me that the brothers in

African countries who could endure their wifes and daughters being raped

because of taking a stand for the truth and that during world war II

thousands of Witnesses endured the Hitler's concentration camps, and

that parents will allow their children who need blood to die because of

the Truth, and that little children will endure years of ridicule in school

for not celebrating holidays and not pledging alligiance to the flag, but

then you read some "apostate" literature and POW!!!! you fall out

of the Truth and give it all up?

There is a reason the Witchtower Babel and Trick Society has demonized

"apostate" literature-- it is the Truth.

The WTBTS dosen't want the Witnesses to think about the almost 100 year

of date of 1914 when Jesus began rule in heaven over the earth, or the

failed prophecy of 1914. 1925, 1975, they don't want to Witnesses to know

about how the WTBTS was a part of the UN and as part of the agreement

they have to submit articles in the mags of how good the UN is, they don't

want the Witnesses to think about they can take every single fraction of what

makes up blood but put all of the fractions in the same plastic container and

now they can't take it, they don't want the brothers to know that there are

elders who were and are pedophiles just like in the Catholic church, they

dont't want the doctrine of the 144,000 analyzed. Yes there are good reasons

why the WTBTS are affraid of "apostate" literature and web sites.

Clearly outright apostate lit is a no-no, how about the old wt lit? On one hand they say to research the old mags but if you go back too far they don't like that either! Is there a cut off date of what is considered apostate lit within the wt history? My jw cannot answer but yet does not want me looking at all the old stuff, new light and all. (of course it is too late for me I already have so much apostate & old wt stuff) ---------------------------------------------------------------------because paragraphs never work for me ----------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When disussing the old beliefs jw's will actually laugh about some of it yet they cannot see that today's new light is tomorrow's folly just like the old lit is looked at today. And still they follow and wait upon jah. What a waste of life and joy.

Actually, I found their own publications older and more current were more enlightening to the real nature of the WTS. I was stunned the first time I read the Studies in the Scriptures and Rutherford's books.

Comments like this towards the end actually helped push me out. When I hear comments like this, I immediately think "what are you hiding"? There is nothing THAT bad in writing that should be considered poison. At worst it's just false. So this was dissonance in action, and helped break me out of the mind control. I hope it does the same for others.

15 minutes of reading apostate literature or even 5 minute apostate videos will make people leave the "truth"? I wish...

    Argument to try:

Sane, rational people believe the earth is round.

Yet there are a few fringe guys who honestly, truly believe that the world is flat. These guys produce literature, videos, etc.

If you were to read their literature, would you change your mind about the world being flat?

No? Wait a minute - the "truth" that you belong to is far more firmly established than the minor detail of the earth's roundness, isn't it? Surely the arguments of the apostates must be weaker than a flat-earther's arguments, right? So what exactly are you afraid of? Your belief in the "truth" is stronger than your belief in the world's roundness, isn't it?

What's there to be afraid of?

it's like forbidding your wife to even look at another man as it COULD lead to her infidelity. It's all about control and insecurity.

"apostate literature is poison and that if you read it you run the risk of falling out of the Truth as many of our dear brothers have."

Now, if I were a teenager and heard this statement, I'd be frothing at the mouth to get my hands on some "apostate" literature.

It's kinda like being told that smoking and drinking is bad and could lead you out of the Truth, right? This may work in our favor.

or like telling a teen it's forbidden to peek at porn.

Will watching a movie where there is a murder or a rape turn the

viewer into a murderer or a rapist? I can see a time in the near

future where the WTBTS will outlaw the internet.
