JWs and Multi-level marketing

    Someone, who was a JW a long time ago, sent me a message promoting an expensive cure-all drink called Noni from Tahiti. I thought I would do a research on it and found out it is an expensive multi-level marketing scheme.

    I found an interesting quote at the following site: (it is evident in the text that the Witnesses are Jehovh's Witnesses)

    http://noni.worldwidewarning.net/www/noni-utah-mormon-and-mlm

    A participant on an internet forum

    has the following to say in relation to the claims made in the above PDF;

    "Also, all the witness I know have joined the Mormons in selling a product called Tahitian Noni juice. That’s right, the Witness’s and the Mormon’s. WOW. Together in multilevel (pyramid) marketing of a "miracle cure-all". I remember a time when the witnesses took great pride in stating how "non-worldly" they were. Can it get anymore worldly than doing multilevel marketing with maybe the nations most capitalistic/worldly/conservative/pro America religious organization, the Mormons! I remember when a Witness’s despise of the Mormon’s could only be compared to their despise of the Catholic’s. I have seen my wife laugh Mormon’s off our property when they showed up at our door during their service endeavors. Now they all get together in Orem, Utah at Morinda world headquarters for sales convention’s, etc. I would love to see one of those convention’s. I wonder if the Mormon’s start the convention with a Pledge of Allegiance or by playing the National Anthem just to drive the Witness’s crazy. A couple Mormon’s own the corporation, therefore, the Witness’s are working for them. Helping them finance the Mormon religion."

    I was wondering if any one here has heard of this scheme and know of any JWs that were or are a part of it? Or do you know of any other similar scheme that money hungry Jaydubs delight to take part in.

    Yep, all MLMs have a number of witnesses involved. I've even gotten suckered into an MLM before by someone at neighboring congo. Witnesses tend to recruit each other. I know a few Witnesses that make $$$ from MLM programs and about 70% of their downline are witnesses. You be amazed to find out that how many Witnesses are featured in promotional videos for various MLM programs.

    In their mind its all about making money but still having time to pioneer.

    "My special pioneer Brother sells "Immunocal". The higher up in the org. you are the better sales will be. HA I know he sells this stuff to 5 Jayduhbeeya relatives so far." I've been wondering if there were any real motivations for suffering the burden of leadership within the Jehovites. By real motivations I mean things like money, sex, personal power and adulation, you know, stuff that people really care about. When I was an idiot, I mean, Jehovite, I thought that MS, elders, and overseers (don't slaves have overseers?) were holy men who served out of a sense of duty and love for jeHOvah. I guess if you are able to make sales through various MLM schemes then being one of the "betters" would really pay off... The only example of a "benefit" that I am personally familiar with was several years ago when a friend of my folks who discovered that her husband, an elder, had been fooling around with an woman at his work. According to my dad, the wife discovered that the husband was receiving oral sex in the parking lot after work but the whole thing was hushed up as due to his position. My dad was angry because if it had been one of the rank and file (us), they would have launched a full investigation and a had a disfellowshipping. At the time, I was just jealous that elders could apparently receive oral sex when according to the watchtower, I couldn't.

    I tasted the Noni juice, it tasted weird but I liked it, kind of lumpy and purple. Never purchase the stuff to expensive. My dad lost thousands of dollars with all kinds of multi level marketing scams. I know a lot of Jaydubs who also get scammed by these things. I think it as to do with their habit of believing extraordinary claims

    yes... I commented on this the other day.... http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/11/169817/3144030/post.ashx#3144030

    these folks were in the circuit work until the Borg caught onto their little game.... poverty my a$$.... they were recruiting for ACN (American Communications Network)...but now they are selling that foul Noni stuff.

    I know a lot of people who ponied up the $495.00 with the promises of being free of a 9 to 5 job and being able to pioneer... I only know one elder who is actually pioneering and making ACN his FT job... (that is when he is not playing golf and looking at porn)..but it is on the backs of a lot of R&F dubs who are hardly making back their five hundred bucks...

    "There's a sucker born every minute.... unless your a dub..then its more often than that"

    You would think that they would see pyramids as they really are; old light from the Russell era.

    A few years ago someone gave me a sample of mangosteen juice and told me how rich she was going to get from selling it. She said it was something like $120 a case, so I figured a case would have 24 bottles. It seemed steep, but the juice was concentrated. I was wrong. The case had 4 bottles!! I got a sickening feeling, realizing that it would be very hard for her to find buyers for those magic beans....errr....juice bottles at that price. When I inquired about the business model, it consisted of her having to buy a case each month to remain a distributor. I could see no possible way for her to find anyone to sell those bottles to, even if they cured all the ailments they claimed to cure.

    Funny thing, of all the nonsense they teach in public schools, one wonders why they do not teach some critical thinking that would dispel this sort of belief.

    Thats funny. I remember a witness getting my aunt to buy a bottle of noni. I was only allowed one sip because it was so expensive. I haven't heard about it in years though.
