Called the "First Lady" of Star Trek, Majel Barrett Roddenberry passed away yesterday in her sleep.

She played Nurse Chapel in the original series, and the voice of the computer in all the series, and I believe was cast in that role for J.J. Abrams Star Trek re-boot.

As a fan of Star Trek, I am deeply saddened by this news.

Those wishing to express condolences and/or make donations in lieu of flowers can go through "Rod" Roddenberry's website.

I'm so sad. I enjoyed her transformation to Deanna's mother in the newer Trek. Heroes had 2 Trek alumni on this week. She was a wonderful lady.

Nichelle Nichols, a/k/a Lt. Uhura, played the Sanders boy's grandmother (geez what's his name? he's the kid who has powers over electronics). She lived in New Orleans.

Yes she did. But you know those inter-racial relationships are tough.

Actually there were four on closer examination>

Star Trek alumni who have made the journey over to Heroes-land. Nichelle Nichols, George Takei and Malcolm McDowell have also appeared.
