Back in my day, although the ban on organ transplants had just been lifted due to the light getting brighter (gags), I remember the outrageous stories regarding transplants. One that I will never forget went as follows. This sister, known for talking a lot, described how this white brother in "another congregation", ignored the Society's advice on the matter and went ahead and had a heart transplant. Unbenownst to him, the donor heart he received was from a worldly African American. After the brother was released from the hospital and had fully recovered, he began craving women of African American descent and suddenly wanted to go dancing at black nighclubs. He also eventually developed a strong sexual appetite and was later disfellowshipped for immorality.

I wanted so bad to tell her that was total BS, but I was still new in the "truth" at the time. I never knew a heart transplant had a viagra like effect and could give a person good rhythm.

Note this "news" item that story probably arose out of:

    Transplant Problems

It has long been known that heart-transplant patients have a higher-than-average amount of postoperative psychiatric problems. But it seems that the same is true with regard to some other vital organ transplants, such as kidney transplants. U.C.L.A. psychiatry professor Dr. Pietro Castelnuovo-Tedesco is quoted as saying: "An outstanding finding following transplantation is the not infrequent occurrence of serious emotional disturbance." One study of 292 kidney-transplant patients showed that nearly 20 percent experienced severe depression after the operation, a few even attempting suicide. By contrast, only about one out of every 1,500 general-surgery patients develops a severe emotional disturbance.

A peculiar factor sometimes noted is a so-called ‘personality transplant.’ That is, the recipient in some cases has seemed to adopt certain personality factors of the person from whom the organ came. One young promiscuous woman who received a kidney from her older, conservative, well-behaved sister, at first seemed very upset. Then she began imitating her sister in much of her conduct. Another patient claimed to receive a changed outlook on life after his kidney transplant. Following a transplant, one mild-tempered man became aggressive like the donor. The problem may be largely or wholly mental. But it is of interest, at least, that the Bible links the kidneys closely with human emotions.—Compare Jeremiah 17:10 and Revelation 2:23.

I heard about that experience. It also mentioned that after the heart transplant with the African-American man, his genitals doubled in size.

that is so stupid. The heart is just a pump for blood. It's not where we hold the love we have. that is our personality our soul. You can't have a soul transplant.

    Well, they are not alone!

Here is a crackpot psychologist who makes the same claims... http://www.newmediaexplorer.org/chris/2006/01/10/can_transplanted_organs_also_transplant_the_donors_personality.htm

    Notice his other notable achevment:

Gary Schwartz, professor of Psychology at the University of Arizona, who first carried out a series of studies called the After Life Experiments - which validated the idea that consciousness lives on after we die - will present fascinating new research into Œtransplant memory¹ which suggests that some people who have received organ transplants seem to undergo major personality transformations, and even develop new abilities which the donor possessed.

EDIT: Aparently this guy has been around for awhile... my guess is the WT got the idea from his "work"

If I ever need a heart transplant I'm gonna ask for a heart from a brother.

When I was a single JW I had 3 JW girlfriends who were black.

One in the states and 2 in Jamaica, West Indies.

I heard the same regarding blood transfusions. The elder went on to state that the recipient of the blood transfusion became like the donor, who was in prison. The recipient then went on to rob banks. Of course I couldn't stop laughing when I heard that

do any of you recall that Russell expressed in one of his books that black people were inferior and that their heads were shaped differently then other humans, so they where not smart and they weren't used by the organization for a long time in any capacity what so ever. I am not sure if that was ever recanted or not. But it goes to show he was prejudiced and narrow minded. Orangefatcat
