    Waiting,

Have you tried a merlot? It's a light red but still dark. Quite nice.
It's my #3 choice after Cab sav and shiraz.

On the subject of wine (well, why not, eh?) I noticed on a trip thru' Europe not too long ago that the Aussie wines on display in the stores are mostly what we would not see here. Seemed strange seeing 'foreign' aussie labels. They didn't come from our more connoisseur wineries, although I did see some Penfold wines and a Jacob's Creek. Perhaps we keep the good stuff here!

    Cheers,
    Ozzie

Ozzie, do they subject you to Alice White down under? Absolutely unfit to drink IMHO. Their shiraz is just awful, disgraceful. Most of the stores around here have a nice selection of Australian wines. I stick with what I know. I have tried a few different ones, but I always go back to my favorite.

Waiting, have you tried a shiraz? Just wondering...

    Princess,

I'm no expert - I just drink the stuff!! But I've never heard of Alice White. Do they show a state of origin or perhaps even an address on the label?

    Cheers,

    Thanks y'all,

I'll try a Merlot.....they do make a white Merlot now (pink). My snooty law school son turned his nose up at it.

A nice wine company in our area is Bolla, at least I know that. Heck, I was drinking their wine back in Indy 20 years ago. At the time, they were one of the few on the market at 12% alcohol - quite a kick if you weren't prepared for it.

The pinot gregio I had last week had 12% also, so perhaps it's the thing now. Wondered why it didn't take much to have a nice buzz while cooking dinner.
