The book of life or as we in the world call it the "White Pages Phonebook."

I actually did a little side-study on the 'Book of Life' a few weeks ago. The actual phrase 'Book of Life' appears only 8 times in the Bible (NKJV), and all of those instances occur in the NT. It appears once in Philippians and seven time in Revelations.

In Rev. 13:8 & 17:8, it mentions those that have not been written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world

    Slappy, this is interesting.

Since the Book of Life implies there has been some sort of record keeping since the "foundation of the world" ...perhaps the OT Book of Remembrance is the same one.

Maybe this is why WT requires so much paperwork...DA letters and Df letters and judicial records because they are answering to Enoch.

Uh...not that can say with 100% certainty one way or the other, but I find that HIGHLY unlikely.

The names are already in the Book and the Book has been since the beginning of time. Seems rather pointless for the WT to keep all sorts of records for something that is already taken care of. It's more likely a way for the WT to keep it's slaves busy and not focused on anything but the WT.

Somebody has to contribute each generation. Santa needs a lot of helpers. Too many names in this big world for one person to keep it up. I think responsibilities are delegated. I think every church keeps records on its parishoners....I just think WT is more extreme.

If God needs 'helpers' in regard to knowing who is worthy and who isn't, then God isn't who He claims to be.

My mom use to compare the book/scrolls of life to a set of really big roldexes .

Do you think this has anything to do with church records? Baptismal records?

No and no. No way to come to that conclusion from Scripture.

"The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else. From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. 'For in him we live and move and have our being.' As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.' "Therefore since we are God's offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stoneā€”an image made by man's design and skill. In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead." - Acts 17:24-31

What more needs to be said?

Who are those whose names were not found in the book of life? Those who recieved the mark of the name of the beast or his number. The indentity of the woman and the beast is made known in Revelation 17:7-18.

The most succinct scriptural answer to the identity of those whose names were not found in the book of life is:

All those who idolize or worship any other than God and His Christ are those whose name was not found in the book of life.

BA- God, His Son, His Holy Spirit, His word, the Bible- read it, love it, learn it, live it.

Then why was Enoch required to leave earth and become a bookkeeper for "god"?

Unless of course, this god being served is satan .....the god of this world.

    Um...

Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away. Genesis 5:24
By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death; he could not be found, because God had taken him away. For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God. Hebrews 11:5

Bookkeeper? You must be getting that from somewhere else than the Bible. I think we both know how confusing things can be when you do that...just look at JWs.

Slappy, it comes from Leolaia's research just a few posts above. A scribe is a bookkeeper or record keeper.

Leolaia: Enoch is the heavenly scribe (1 Enoch 8:1-2, 12:4, 14:24-15:1), who writes down the deeds of all generations into the heavenly books.
