My girlfriend is from Germany, she moved here in the USA 2 years ago, she did work in the nursing home not for very long because she does not have working papers here in the USA. She has a nursing college degree from Germany. She currently works at the Animal Hospital. I think she would be better off to take care of humans as a nurse. Any suggestions?

Get work in a group home, or as a private nurse for seniors. Get a cna or cma so she can dispense meds, etc. (in a group home those are unnecessary, but her experience would get her the job)

She needs to contact your state's nursing board to find out how to obtain a valid license to practice in the state.

Most non NLC states require an class or two and exam but that is it.

Here in Florida she can get a CNA certificate in like 2 weeks and start working with people. Some hospitals will hire you as a CNA and pay for your education to become a more advanced nurse lpn or RN.

I dont know about transfering education and credentials from one country to another but would bet that its possible given the nursing shortage.

I dont know what kind of nurse your girl friend was My son and daughter in law are RN's. I know of 3 basic catagores CNA 2 weeks of schooling

    Lpn 1 year of school

Rn 2 years of school and then you can become a nurse practitioner or nurse anesthesiologist, probably a lot of other things thats what I know about.

My son goes back and forth from Florida and Ohio and works both places so it appears to me there is a testing process in every state.
