    Yes, I knew that, S4.

I was looking at your avatar when I was quoting the poster above.

BTW, what do you think happened there? Maybe the Construction dons got trumped by Legal or Service department? I think it is a great parallel lesson to what may be going down for the COs.

S4 and james: For years, everyone who served either permanently or temporarily at Bethel was heavily encouraged to make Bethel their long-term goal--to view it as a life vocation. In this way they enjoyed having thousands of hopefuls, and so retain a pool of potential Bethelites. This allowed them to easily replace those who outlived their usefulness or caused trouble, and keep an eye out for desirable skillsets. In other words, their human resource management is like any other corporation.

Yup...that was what I thought, too. Although I have certainly worked for worldly corporations that showed a lot more fairness and compassion for their workers than this bunch, probably even including the often-trashed Wallmart.

I would point out that there is a famous saying about a potential adversary that, "I'd rather have them p*ssing out of the tent, than in"

If the Society doesn't understand that, they are far bigger fools than I thought. You are correct that these guys could hurt them legally.

It makes little difference to the empty headed thralls that these guys might know something damaging about doctrine, but, on the other hand, what they could tell a courtroom about subjects like child molestation, blood transfusion disassociation, policy regarding those who join the armed forces, child custody cases, and much more could be very damaging.

How many times did a C.O. read aloud some private instruction that you weren't allowed to see? Like 'what not to put down on a disfellowshipping form'?

I suspect that wiser heads are agonizing over this. To let these guys go without a real golden handshake would be foolish, indeed. These guys have been handling the 'dirt' for the Watchtower for too long.

And how many COs, even as we post, are racing out to Kinko's to get a few dozen copies of every "confidential" letter & directive in their files? If they haven't done so already? Just a little "insurance policy".

Amen to that! If you are an elder or Circuit Overseer reading this, take immediate action RIGHT NOW!

Grab all the confidential files and information you can, including all judicial files of every congregation you can get access to. You may not have another opportunity to protect yourself.

Don't be generous to the people dumping you. If you don't protect your own interests, who will?

What better way to rid the company of those in positions to be eliminated then to leak the rumor of eliminations.

If the company is lucky, enough will retire early. Once most are gone, they can announce the new arrangement as a most urgent need!

Yes by then the PO interviews will be finished and all will seemed to have fallen into place 'miraclously' as if approved and sanctioned by the Grand Creator himself.

Please if you are a CO lurker, take the advice above and make copies soon, or scan them into PDF!

IF you are a DO lurker.....makes you wonder how they can eliminate you ....(do the same copy or scan)

No. The CO thing has been in the works for months, maybe a year plus. My best guess is all the meeting changes are to fit in with the new arrangement. The public talks were shortned in January, in all likelihood to allow for the visiting elder (replacement for CO) to give a half hour talk on the Sunday plus half hour WT and public talk. Thursday meeting will likely be bumped to Tuesday for the CO's visit week and the visiting elder will give his main talk on Thursday/Friday night. That way he can visit just Thursday/Friday-Sunday and work the rest of the week to support himself. I reckon they are just spacing the changes out so as it doesn't all appear so deliberate and sudden.

It's an archaic system that really does little. Most elder bodies I knew just waited for the CO to leave. If they had any real issues or questions they just called legal. One can only imagine the expense of keeping a 50-70 Year old insured with our system of Insurance. Along with insuring all those cars. Gas Prices! The list goes on. How many CO's are serving nowadays?
