A relative of mine is storing a COs car at his house (not the WTS provided car but the COs own car) .He would not give details but long stor y short - he was expecting to come off the circuit. refused to give more details. It appears the rumors about the demise of COs has some substance
Just heard about a CO

the new book at the convention talks about bookstudies, so not sure that makes a difference.

Perhaps this CO is a JWD lurker. He sees the rumored demise as a strong possibility and is getting out before being booted.

Idle speculation on my part but I think there can be truth to both reports.
On another thread, someone mentioned just retiring *some* of the COs. The remaining ones would hit each cong every 9mos instead of every 6mos. Sorry I cannot find the thread where this was suggested.

I don't understand the comment. The announcement has been made to all congs that the weekly bookstudy small groups will be disbanded to allow more time for family study. The material will still be covered by incorporating it into the TMS/ServiceMeeing program. -Aude.

It is possible for the WTS to start using the substitute COs more and they would be local, not traveling from circuit to circuit. Could keep the same schedule. Seen it done already when the CO had a "family" emergency.

My best bet would be that the Society will "reassign" the COs sometime in 2009 or 2010, possibly maybe even as late as 2011.
The Society seems rather directionless lately, but even they are smart enough to know that cutting COs loose with no lead time would result in several hundred motivated, angry men with files full of secrets. In the internet age that's never a good thing (for them, anyway).

what im saying is that there has been new material published about how important the local bookstudy is, etc when its going to be done away with. so if there is recent stuff about co's, i would really be suprised if they get rid of co's soon.

The Society seems to always make changes on the calender...so if they are changing the bookstudy arrangement next jan, then perhaps the CO change will be following the same kind of change. They like those nice neat packages. They just sent a shitload of people home from Bethel with no where to go...why would they hesitate to put all thos COs out of business with no where to go as well?
