Concrete is very porous, looks nice when new but stains too easy.

Satanus the problem with granite tile is that grout on countertops stinks. IT stains easy and is harder to clean.

Granite tiles, or any tiles for that matter, with grout lines make it difficult to roll out pie crusts and cookie dough. Don't like grout lines on the counter.
Is someone going to answer my Windex question?

On HGTV today (Spice Up My Kitchen), someone had stainless steel countertops installed. Easy to clean, easily sanitized. Might be a worthwhile option.

StAnn- Windex is fine. You still need to remember to reseal the granite yearly.

Interesting thought. I wonder why we don't see stainless countertops in domestic kitchens. Too expensive to install? Or not homey enough?
As an IBEW Electrician I've remodeled many commercial kitchens and those 40 year old counters still look almost as good as new.
