If The Watchtower ran the world there would be similar "laws" in place!

And it would be Biblical, as blasphemy was punishable by stoning in the Old Testament, or "Hebrew Scriptures" as The Watchotwer likes to call them.

    Christian "God," bad.

    Allah, good.

    Muhammed, good.

    Western jurisprudence, bad.

    Sharia, good.

    "Great Satan," bad.

"Evolved" to the stone age, good.

    Toleration of intolerance........enlightened!

Many of them were the killing of blasphemers...

Can one be threatened with death for insulting deities/religious figures? -- Obviously, yes.

Should one be threatened with death for insulting deities/religious figures? -- From our (modern Westerners') perspective, obviously, no.

Whether insulting deities/religious figures is a smart thing to do in this context is yet another question...

One can be threatened with death for anything.

I would have threatened I_h8_god with death for his ultra-rude thread. Thanks, admin, for deleting that in short order.

Another nutball who hates JWs threatening anyone or anything related to them.

Muhammad sounds like one insecure, vindictive and primadonna mofo. Perhaps he should join Jesus in intensive counciling to overcome his delusions of grandeur. Peace be upon these crazy bastards. Bring_the_Light

"Can you still find yourself punished, even sentenced to death, for blasphemy?"

Shafeeq Latif would clearly answer Yes.

    Or ask Salman Rushdie.

If one who commits this "offense" isn't physically accessible for immediate capture and punishment, they can be sentenced to death in absentia -- and all of the "faithful" around the globe are transformed into deputized executioners.

We all know about Rushdie, and Latif too from this article, but countless people whose names we don't know have been and continue to be imprisoned and/or killed for the "crime" of blasphemy.

Is it right? Of course not. But does it happen? Obviously yes.
