Unless there are some valid stats that dubs have more pedophiles than other religions, I wouldn't. The main reason why we're all so pissed off about it is they not only had pedophiles in the religion, but they had put themselves above the Catholic Church, saying they were better. Newsflash, they weren't.
If you did, it would proably have to have a spin on it about covering up for the pedophiles. Trying not to sound like a disgruntled fanatic and getting that point across would be difficult to do, IMO. I would imagine it would be possible.

If it is widespread (and the NBC report last fall indicates that it is), then you could choose to mention pedophiles if it will fit into the remainder of the material.

That's an excellent point well taken.
In fact, I think that might be enough of a point to consider leaving out the pedophiles.
