Do You Really Like/Love Who You Are?

When a person has to be stifled in order to maintain membership in a group, it's not a good thing. You can never grow and develop. When we were JWs we always had to watch ourselves to make sure we didn't "stumble" someone somehow.

Being out of the Organization and its control and influence allows us to be persons who can actually contribute positively to society. If you can't love yourself, you can't love others.

Let's just say I wish I liked myself as much as other people like me. I am well liked but have grown up with a very strong self-loathing.

I'm an insufferable, moldy, old buzzard.

So many gay people hate themselves in the Borg. I never thought I was worthy of anything until I left and developed a somewhat normal self-identity. Now I probably over compensate by being a very sexual being. But, at least I am only with one boy/guy/man.

Indo, I totally got you there! I really made up for lost time once I left! I was an animal! LOL

But now, I too have settled down with one man!

I was a slut for a few years. Now me, and my man 'Male Formed' have a life together, an apartment, a dog, and a deep love. We still 'play' together now & again, but our rules are pretty str8 forward. I can't imagine life without my 'M F'. He completes me. An exJW no less, too.

Yes. Though, after-Borg, I'm pretty much the same person, only not guilt-ridden.

Still have issues, but from the abuse (and the way victims are blamed in that culture, and forced to endure while "waiting on Jehovah" - geez, can't that guy get a Daytimer or something?).

I'm at peace with my gifts and limitations, aprpeciate my capacity for compassion, and prefer the experience of love over disconnection.

Honestly, I am told several times a day how appreciated and loved I am (and not by my partner, either!)...so I guess I'm on a good footing with the right people around me! But it is often hard to take in.

A very good question and deserves an honest answer. It's a scriptural reminder to love ourselves.
