Hmmm.....PTSD is a very real condition, but self-diagnosis is tricky.....according to the DSM IV, there has tobe present a very real threat of death or severe physical harm to yourself or someone very close to you:

A person must have experienced a traumatic event where both of the following occurred:

    • The person experienced, witnessed, or was confronted with an event where there was the threat of or actual death or serious injury. The event may also have involved a threat to the person's physical well-being or the physical well-being of another person.
    • The person responded to the event with strong feelings of fear, helplessness, or horror.

My JW daddy scared the bee-livin'-Jay-sus out of us on a regular basis - but he never pulled a gun or a knife - just edgy stuff. We were traumatized, but that doesn't qualify as PTSD.

i didn't self diagnose. i was diagnosed by a psychiatrist. his description of the symptoms
    seemed to make sense.

i was in Alanon for a year. it saved my life once 20 years ago.

I admit that I have no power over the Watchtower Society.
