Okay, I'm old. But I went to the Telluride Blue Grass Festival a few times when I was younger. Too much weed I guess, I had to google it to remember who I saw.
Hot Rize, Chris Daniels, New Grass Revival, Emmylou Harris and the Hot Band....were some that sparked a memory. Love bluegrass!

Can't forget Bela Fleck & The Flecktones.
As much as I dislike Jerry Garcia, Old & In The Way cranked out some pretty good stuff. His other work with David Grisman, (Grateful Dawg), is cool too.

Lysmith: Bela is, to my ears, the most accomplished banjo player alive, and he was a member of my two favorite Blue Grass bands (New Grass Revival and Strength in Numbers)...but I've had trouble thinking of his Flecktones work as Blue Grass - his form there, despite instrumentation, seems to be more acid jazz. How can I reinterpret the Flecktones more appropriately? Thanks!

Saw Bela in Boston w/ the Tuvan guy, it was awesome...

I've seen him at bluegrass festivals and I saw him open for Dave Matthews one time. I have to agree with your assesement. His later work does not qualify as bluegrass to me, though when he plays at festivals and he plays with other bluegrass bands, no one can touch him as far as his playing.

Allison Kraus....saw her in concert about 2 years ago here in Florida in a small venue.....her talent, her voice,.( believe it or not the lights broke overhead with her voice)....still gives me the chills.
