Hotel California by the Eagles is an obvious one.

I have'nt figured out how to find the songs I like on youtube.

Sorry, can't paste a link, but "Dreams of our Fathers" by Dave Mathews is my personal favorite. Even though I was converted, my heart is with those who were born in. My family, in process of in and out, especially my step kids.

I was just thinking about this the other day...

    "Landed" by Ben Folds.

I know, it's unambiguously a song about a deeply dysfunctional
and unheathly relationship, but isn't that rather the case?

Till I opened my eyes and walked out the door
And the clouds came tumbling down
    And it's bye-bye, goodbye, I tried
And I twisted it wrong just to make it right
    Had to leave myself behind
I've been flying high all night
So come pick me up...I've landed

The daily dramas she made from nothing
So nothing ever made them right
She liked to push me and talk me back down
Until I believed I was the crazy one,
    and in a way
    I guess I was...

If you wrote me off I'd understand it
Because I've been on some other planet
    So come pick me up...
    I've landed

To this day- Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin sends shivers down my spine every time I hear it ! Love that song of " hope " as Robert Plant called it himself in concert. It is my all-time favorite song ! Beautiful ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

This one is short and sweet, and reminds me of my JW days:

Nothing Worth Living For - The Violent Femmes

There's nothing worth living for tonight
Tell me that there's something worth living for tonight
    Don't let me down
    Don't let me drown
The pain is somewhere very close to me

Well as we all know as JWs we were to focus on the goals of the WTS and live life ascetically, volunteering and other charitable acts were to be limited to 'God's sole channel" and his "FDS"

While I am still in the process of leaving (mentally/emotionally) the life-long lies I have been told into an unknown world of uncertainty I have managed to keep my optimism and sense of 'pollyanna do-gooder'. Which of course is funny; according to the Eldums I was the most dangerous of dangerous kind of JWkid.......(my biggest sin?....asking questions! ..I didn't live a double life of immorality like the rest of the hall)

So right now my favorite song is off of my kids Curious George soundtrack

Ben Harpers 2003 "With My Own Two Hands" sung by both Harper and Jack Johnson.

Perhaps in the near future I will add Johnny Nash's "I Can See Clearly Now" covered by Jimmy Cliff

    Yknot...Audio Emoticon - Happy

That which does not kill us makes us stronger -----Friedrich Nietzche

'Holy Grail' by Hunters & Collectors always strikes a chord with me.

Woke up this morning from the strangest dream
I was in the biggest army the world has ever seen
    We were marching as one
On the road to the holy grail

Started out seeking fortune and glory
Its a short song but it's a hell of a story
When you spend lifetime trying to get your hands
    On the holy grail

Well have you heard about the great crusade
We ran into millions, but nobody got paid
Yeah we raised four corners of the globe
    For the holy grail

All the locals scattered, they were hiding in the snow
We were so far away from home, so how were we to know
There be nothing left to plunder
When we stumble on the holy grail

    We were full of beans
But we were dying like flies
And those big black birds, they were circling in the sky
And you know what they say, yeah, nobody deserves to die

You know I, I've been searching for an easy way
To escape this cold light of day
I been high and I been low
But I got nowhere else to go

    Theres nowhere else to go

    And I followed orders
    God knows where i've been
    But I woke up alone
    All my wounds were clean
    Im still here
Im still a fool for the holy grail

Oh yeah I'm a fool for the holy grail

U2 - Beautiful Day "What you don't have now you don't need it now..."

Lights out tonight, trouble in the heartland.
Got a head-on collision, smashin’ in my guts man.
    I’m caught in a crossfire that I don’t understand.
But there’s one thing I know for sure girl:
I don’t give a damn for the same old played out scenes
    I don’t give a damn for just the in-betweens.
Honey I want the heart, I want the soul, I want control right now.
You better listen to me baby:
Talk about a dream; try to make it real.
You wake up in the night with a fear so real.
You spend your life waiting for a moment that just don’t come.
Well don’t waste your time waiting

Badlands you gotta live it every day
    Let the broken hearts stand
As the price you’ve gotta pay
We’ll keep pushin’ till it’s understood
And these badlands start treating us good

Workin’ in the field till you get your back burned
Workin’ `neath the wheels till you get your facts learned.
Baby I got my facts learned real good right now.
You better get it straight darling:
Poor men wanna be rich, rich men wanna be kings,
And a king ain’t satisfied till he rules everything.
I wanna go out tonight, I wanna find out what I got.
Now I believe in the love that you gave me.
I believe in the faith that could save me.
I believe in the hope and I pray that some day it
    Will raise me above these

For the ones who had a notion, a notion deep inside
That it ain’t no sin to be glad you’re alive.
I wanna find one face that ain’t looking through me
I wanna find one place, I wanna spit in the face of these
