    81. Hypocrisy http://www.orange-papers.org/orange-cult_q8.html

Cult members, including the leader, project their own sins and crimes onto people outside of the cult:
    "They are dishonest."
    "They are unspiritual."
    "They have a hidden agenda."
    "They are narrow-minded and intolerant."
"They are a bunch of bigots."
"They don't care about the future of the world."
    "They are incompetent."
"They are trying to eliminate the competition."
"They are only in it for the money."
    "They have an evil leader."
    "They are immoral."
    "They are ambitious and greedy."
"They are not doing the Will of God."
    "They are not real Christians."
"They do not have a reasonable interpretation of the Bible."
    "They lie."
    "They are in denial."
    "They have strange, illogical beliefs."
    "They are acting crazy."
"Their lives don't make any sense."
    "They are hypocritical."
And above all: "We are not a cult -- all of those other groups are. We work very hard to make sure that our group doesn't turn into a cult like them."

I suppose it depends on what your definition of a cult is. Personally, I think it's any religious group that attempts to restrict your ability to make decisions for yourself. In this sense, JWs are most definitely a cult. While it's true to a certain degree of most religions, cults will go to far greater extremes to make this happen. It's about controlling the flock, not providing spiritual guidance.

IMO, they are a cult. My research, and everyone elses, has pointed it out. They are on the top 5 cults to watch at www.cultwatch.com .

Just do your research. I should have before I was doctrinated.

    Are they absent divine leadership?

    Are they devious?

Do they exhibit all the characteristics of one they claim to be their adversary?

Are they void of unconditional love?

Do they claim to offer, but lack utterly as a reality, any notion of true friendships?

    Is compassion absent their rules?

Do they exercise Ruthless psychological cruelty to humans?

Do they exercise Ruthless emotional cruelty to humans?

    Do they destroy whole families?

I've been told they are considered a high-control group some years ago, but they may have changed the definition of cult nowadays. Either one works for me.
