Mine doesn't use the "turned over tile".
My moment on MahJong was playing it in a 'puter factory in Silicon Valley. A Chinese girl came over, looked over my shoulder. She said 'move middle' like I knew Chinese. I clicked on them and they disappeared; she nodded and moved on.

The one on the web has 'cursive' script; that is much harder to read than the one I have. The same goes for reading Chinese text: once the style changes to cursive (hand written, rather than 'machine regular'), it is almost a guessing game.
