    sab,

I guess a combination of all the reasons you listed. You will find that most locals tend to avoid the strip. I find going there boring. For reasons I can't understand people are shocked that I don't go there every chance I get. My brother flies into Vegas about every 6 weeks to gamble and go to the strip joints in the naked city. He goes to the strip more than I do. Maybe I am burned out going. I prefer to gamble at the station casinos. My favorite is Green Valley Ranch and Sunset.

Thanks Unbeliever - it's always nice to get the view of a 'local' as they always see things differently to a tourist.

I revel in the atmosphere of an upmarket modern hotel but having said that I was impressed with the 'old world' charm of the Golden Nugget and Binions.

I like them all for different reasons - mainly the women all wear different outfits in each one.

Best views are from the Rio Voodoo Lounge - you can see all over Vegas from there and last time I went the women were all asian looking with long skin tight dresses with thigh high splits.

My favourite hotel for chilling and playing machines and best bar tenders - The Mirage. Pretty good pizza there too.

My favourite place to stay The Frontier. I've seen all the others, but I just have a fondness for that place despite the fact its a mecca for the elderly. It has a perfect length pool, its usually pretty quiet and I feel 100% per cent relaxed there. And I have some happy moments of the jacuzzi too.

I very much enjoy the Fremont street experience especially on Friday nights when you can listen to music. The Goldem Nugget is a very charming place. My friends and I like to go eat at the Carson Street Cafe. I spend a lot of time down town because that is where the court house is.

In the name of science I carefully checked out all the girls who were giving out drinks in the various casino's and I have to say that in my humble opinion those with the nicest looks / boobs / legs were definitely to be found wandering around the Bellagio's casino.

However, Cafe Bellagio seems to be the place where the girls who are 'past it' go to retire and wait tables to the elderly!

I like the Luxor, the Bellagio and the Rio. And on the other side of the freeway from the Rio is a strip mall with a Japanese restaurant - and all-you-can-eat buffet of Japanese food, for Japanese customers. We saw huge Japanese families there, the price was reasonable, and the food is good, pretty strange and definitely not a western style sushi bar. I recommend that place! I had a really good bloody Mary at the big Hilton just off the strip.

Last time we stayed in Primm Nevada about 20 minutes south. Whiskey Pete's. It was 25 bucks per night. Dirt cheap. It was clean.

We went to the Luxor or 5 nights and it was fab. The buffet was amazing for the money and it was so easy to get lost.

Have never played the slot machines before but soon got used to them and me and my son in law used to stay up till 3 or 4 AM on them. Lost all we made but hey who cares we had fun
