Could someone let me know why how Jesus was killed is more important than why he was killed? Does it really matter?

Touche!! Could someone forward these two very pertinent questions to the Governing Body at Brooklyn Bethel? These questions would never arise had the Watchtower Society not elevated form to substance in its hazy, crazy scheme of things. Anything to be different, no matter how arbitrary and silly!

We aren't going to argue since this thread was only about what the WTBTS says. There is no doubt in my mind the bible was tampered with, so just a matter of where and how much. There is only one piece of evidence as to how they executed people and it was a heal bone with a nail through it.I think another important issue is whether the use of cross in worship is christian origin or pagan and I lean toward pagan.

    Hi worldtraveller,

As for why they start here

1 Peter 3:18 (New International Version)
For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit

    Hebrews 9:15
For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.

    Romans 5:10
For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!

Does it matter? I'll let you answer that one ;)

    All the best,
    Stephen

Why he was killed is a bit more complicated than how he was killed. The jewish religious leaders plotted the whole thing and not the romans as many seem convinced of even tho the bible is very clear the pharisees were out to get him the whole time. The jews turned him over to the Romans and in jesus own words were more to blame for what happened afterwards. Obviously it was caiaphas and the sanhedrin that had a kangeroo court convicting him of heresy or blaspheme because he said he could rebuild the temple in 3 days , which they took out of context . The jews then made sure pontius pilate was aware that there was a mosaic law which allowed for hanging someone on a tree or stake based on their own verdict . deuteronomy 21:22 The jews then demanded his body not stay hung all night but be taken down in accord with the law. The important thing is not to start hating jews today for what happened then I think. Jesus gave himself over for human sacrifice. He could have called legions of angels to defend him.

I remember thinking- Oh- the cross is bad because it resembles a phallus.................but the stake kind of looks more like a phallus??!!

If your phallus is shaped like a cross, you've got bigger problems!!!
