Marriage in heaven or for those resurrected...

This is one thing that has always bothered me. I know that when we are married, that when one mate dies, that the marriage is disolved; but when both mates die; for example at the same time (car accident, or whatever..) if all that die do actually end up going to heaven, does that mean that they will not be together once again?? According to some scriptures, it states we will all be given in marriage to Jesus. That saddens me to think that we will not be joined with our mates again.

I remember while in the JW's being told that those that are resurrected will not be able to be given in marriage for they will be as the angels in heaven. That's one thing that never made since to me either. If we are resurrected and are to be living on the earth in paradise, how can we be as angels, and why cannot we enjoy the companionship of marriage??

    What are your thoughts???

You're thinking with your "personality", thus with emotions and thoughts connected to them.

Your soul takes what it has learned here and assimilates it without prejudice or emotional ties.

That was one thing that I felt Jehovah would use to cheat me out of ever having anything to do with the opposite sex, forever. That is, until the April 1995 Puketower study article came up and took that ball.

The doctrine is that, if a person dies, he would be resurrected and not able to marry. The illustration, specious to me, was that a person had seven wives in sequential order. Each one died in turn, then the person married the next who also died. After all 7 of them died, he himself died. The question was, which one he would be married to in the resurrection. The answer was that, not only would the marriages all be ended, but that he would never marry again. They extended that to include anyone that died single--such person would be cheated out of ever marrying (or enjoying sex). Of course, they didn't call it cheating.

To me, that is a total waste. You die, get resurrected, and all you have to look for is endless celibacy. What fxxxing kind of reward is that? I thought that they used life as a reward, not a punishment! And, suppose the end didn't come for another 100 years or so, and they had successfully got every single one of the sisters to reject me and using that lie that it would be different in the "new" order, only to have it come the day after I died. Then I am going to get resurrected so I can serve the God that sabotaged my fulfillment? To me, that is the absolute stupidest thing they could ever do short of blaming Satan for causing the sisters to reject me and then setting up such situation at subsequent a$$emblies, followed by telling me as official theocraptic arrangement to just meet other men.

Needless to say, they no longer have any of my respect, nor do they ever have any means to gain it back. They tell me to stay off this site, and not only I look at it but I join and start beating up on the Watchtower Society. They tell me not to listen to rap, I have every filthy rap CD I could find. They tell me not to celebrate Christmas, so I have the most decorated apartment in the complex and possibly in the 98th percentile in the whole neighborhood. They tell me not to have a Ouija board, I went out and bought one (at that, on the day of the 2006 Crapmorial to which I did not go). They tell me to go to all the meetings; I haven't been to one since the 2005 Crapmorial. They want me to take "advantage" of my celibacy and take a "privilege" that is only open to single men, so I don't go out in field circus at all (and I tell anyone that asks to visit an apostate Web site). And so on.

this is one thing that always creates an interesting conversation when I am around. The official WT dogma on this is that those resurrected in the new system will not marry again.

This is from the scripture where Jesus debated the resurrection with the Saducees. They asked him about a wife of 7 different men, who's wife would she be after resurrected? He said that she would neither marry nor be given in marriage, she would be like the angels. Or, not married.

I cant remember all the details as to why the WT concludes this but I recall reading the info and seeing why they came to that conclusion.
HOWEVER, I will never agree with that teaching.
To me, Jesus merely stated that the woman would not STILL be married to any man nor would He "give" her to any of her previous husbands. Death ended the marriage(s).
I cant see how in any stretch of the imagination that Jesus here indicated his plan to have millions of single people roaming the earth for eternity while watching a few thousand enjoy companionship.

For some reason this still comes up now and then and NOBODY in the org. seems to know the official stance of the WT. The reason nobody knows is because this MAJOR teaching regarding the new system would seriously not sit well with many many people. This seems to just get swept under the rug. And even if it is answered as the WT claims, everyone always says: "well we'll have to wait and see, Jehovah is a loving god. We just need to GET THERE first!"

not to sabotage this thread but.....

Wizard, I here you make comments like this all the time. Just how did the elders destroy your ability to ever have a relationship with a girl?

This never made much sense to me either. I don’t know how I feel now about it, being that I don’t give these things much thought these days. But the only thing that I thought of at the time with the illustration of the 7 men that shared a wife, (you’ve got to feel sorry for her, bet she was pleased when she heard Jesus say she won’t have to be married again) is if the marriage was dissolved from all of them, then she would be free to marry to whom ever she chose. They would all be in a single state. (that is for those who had the earthly resurrection)

I don’t know about worrying about being married in heaven. Imagine the suffering if your marriage goes on into hell……….!!!!

Wha ha ha ha ha ha haaaaaaaaar……………………

This is just one of many things that I just thought "Huh?" . Wasn't this another of Pauls utterances? He was soooooo weird.

I've always had a hard time with Paul. Sometimes I think he hijacked the growing popularity of Christ's teachings and turned it into something of his own. Just my opinion. Therefore, if Jesus didn't utter the doctrine, it remains suspect to me.

Have you ever seen or heard of anyone being resurrected before. Come back to earth.

When you die your worm food.

But if you want to live in fantasy land.

Create a wonderful fantasy, Imagine when you die, You will be rich and happy and with your loved ones forever.
