    To my former family member
    Here’s my last communiqué
We have reached the big December
No more talk in any way

I once loved you so intensely
But you broke the cardinal rule
You have sinned oh so immensely
    You’ve become the Devil’s tool

I could take it if you lied
Wouldn’t much mind if you stole
As long as you had cried
They’d just put you on parole

    Bloody stabbing is acquitted
Sex with kids is just uncouth
The grave sin you have committed
Is you say, “It’s not The Truth”

And so I will ignore you
    I’m giving you the boot
From now on I will abhor you
    Forever standing mute

I hope that this will hurt you
Slicing right down to your core
I want for this to crush you
    So you’ll agree once more

I’m told that I should “hate” you
You’re a foe of God above
I wish that this deflates you
But I do it out of “love”

    No natural affection
    But please always remember
    It’s just punitive correction
    From a former family member

Thanks for all that interesting feedback. It's so sad that so many of us bought into the lies about such acts being loving. I'm glad we all came to our senses. Shunning is such a stupid thing to do just because someone disagrees with your POV, or chooses a lifestyle you would not choose for yourself.

Awesome! Have you put it to music? I'd love a youTube of this.

Is the real argument: What doesn't kill you makes you stronger? I never believed that one, either. And no, it's hating, not loving.

Hey, Abandoned. I'd love to put it to music, but not sure how you mean. I am actually a voice talent, so I have a recording studio, and do voiceovers for commercials and narrations and such. But I'm not a musician. I do have a music service that provides me with tons and tons of really good background music beds. But I don't really know how to add video or pictures to it. Is this something you know how to do?

    Hi Happy,

I'm afraid I bought into that garbage when I was a JW and actively participated in shunning DF'd ones There are three that immediately come to mind - but I haven't now seen them for many years so can't even apologise for my past actions.

JWs call that love. I'd rather have a pocketful of spiders!!

Logical falacy: Appeal to force and appeal to pity. DFing does both by appealing to force with threats of shunning if one doesn't straighten out, and appeal to pity is the guilt trip of "Oh, you are breaking our hearts! Come back to JH or we will be sad!"

Mmm...loving shunning...sounds like Stockholm Syndrome to me. "I just LOVE my captors!"

If you ever married a person and said you must do everything I instruct you to do and keep busy doing it and if you ever refuse or have your own opinion against mine you will be shunned by all I know - is it really love? Is it really worth that commitment? Can you really love that arrangement? Is it possible as a human being to do so? Too many of us sold ourselves short and gave up our rights to be a human being deserving respect for what we think and feel! IMO
