Minimus' thread recent inspired me... to start a thread of my own~!!

I'm working out of town and keeping unnecessary expenses to a minimum.

The problem is: I miss television. I miss it alot.

So, instead of paying for cable tv, I upgraded my internet connectivity and included wireless capabilities.

I've found a few streaming sites online and am looking for other recommendations.

My current interests are: Morning and Evening News; Movies; History Channel; Animal Planet; and similar. I want variety.

Please post links to streaming sites you've found that can round-out my list or other links that we all might enjoy. (Sorry, not looking for porn links in this tread.)

Here's the list I've got so far:

I'm in the same situation as you. Thanks for the links, wish I had something to share with you. Anyone else have something we could use?

    Hey poppers -

The ABC and NBC sites have many of their current lineup online with a 1-2 day delay. Also, there are a few commercials that cannot be skipped over but it's not too bad. Maybe 4 or 5 spots per 42minute program. ABC lets you opt out of the commercial after 30 seconds. NBC works a little differently.

It's pretty cool, though. TV on demand - with pause features. You just have to wait until all timezones have aired first so you won't necessarily be able to participate in watercooler talk the next day.

Try them. I think you'll be as happy as I was to find my shows.

I'm looking forward to seeing what other links posters can provide. Hopefully lots more as the American crowd gets off work and settles in at their computers tonight.

Besides internet tv, you can buy a usb fta receiver (free to air -satellite radio & tv-) for 70 dollars -+, to be connected to you pc or laptop, or a stand alone receiver for 120-300$, monitor required, some of the receivers come with recording capabilities, external disk required, some receivers use the hard disk in your pc or laptop for recording check available programming channels first, there are thousands fta channels from all over the world... an small dish antenna is required (same as direct-tv), remote controlled dish antenna better, the receivers can "remember" the particular satellite for you... http://www.copperbox.com/FTA-Satellite-Receivers-s/1.htm http://ftamonster.com/

Ninja - Thanks I'll check that link when I get home.

One - Sounds interesting. Limits me to home use - but that's where I usually am!

Does the Direct-TV Type dish require monthly service charges?? Anyone know about how much a dish like that costs and if it requires specialist installation?? I like the idea of it but still want to keep overall costs low.

Besty - I found what looks like two different types EyeTV. One is to purchase product. The other is a website dedicated to music. Both look interesting and I will explore them further.

Any other simple links to broadcast tv shows? Surely there are must be more out there...

Denise, you forgot the Tiffany network!

Just go to http://www.cbs.com and scroll down to where it says "Watch Full Episodes Free" to get their most complete list.

That's the only way I can catch Drew Carey's "The Price Is Right".
