As a cook, when making any cabbage dish, all outer leaves are discarded.....the core is cut out and only the finest, tenderest leaves are used for coleslaw or other dishes

Cabbage is rather tasteless.
Well, this yankee changed his tune when he came down south. It's really good when eaten with some cornbread and some type of fried meat.

I worked in a garden and when we cut the cabbage, oftentimes it is full of nasty beetles in the center.
