You're extremely brave and I am particularly touched by this paragraph you wrote:
I am not afraid of death. I have reached a state of peace and quiet about my decision that I haven't felt in a long time. If it is the eternal big sleep, then that will be a welcome relief from the rat race I've been living. If it's something more, I'm ready to embark on that journey and hold on for dear life while screaming "WoooooooHooooooooo" at the top of my lungs.
As you know, I have been fighting my own battle against cancer for over three years. The words above could not have summed up my own attitude any better. Thank you, Eryn!

Yes Ian, I know and I admire you for your fight. I am greatly relieved to hear that you are doing better. I was particularly nervous about posting my decision based on the many JWD members who have and are fighting the fight. Thank you for your support.

I don't know if this is all we have, or if there is some master plan in the universe and we go on to something else when we leave this life. I wonder - but there's no way of knowing. So the thing to do (and I know this is really obvious) is to get what we can out of the moment. How do you comfort yourself? I get as much peace out of watching green leaves move against blue sky as I do looking at a really big mountain or the ocean. In fact, I can stare at green leaves and blue sky for quite a while. Of course, chocolate helps - my favorite is the low-carb dark chocolate our local temple, Trader Joe's.

How do you comfort yourself?
Lately, I sit in my front yard and watch the sun go down over the bay. I also put on my fuzziest jammies and curl up on the sofa with my cat. A cat's purr is very calming.
